It's not just Americans. I've been sitting plenty of times across the aisle from a businessman bragging to their seat neighbours or colleagues about their jobs/deals. It's particularly fun when you're a on a flight with >80% professional travellers. It's amazing how quickly employees forget about their confidentiality clause...

And then there are those that have their morning briefings on board. Guys, you look ridiculous working on your powerpoint presentation at 7 am on a 1 hour flight.

Well, S are always s in Italian. It's not German :P

Was it pronounced " sewer" as in underground pipe, or " sewer" as one with a needle
and thread?

I believe he is a judge on a reality tv programme here, and he poses as an Italian. I'm not sure if he's real as he is quite over the top, even for an italian. There will be many videos of him on youtube. I think he may be a dance judge or something.
Yes - he's a judge on Strictly Come Dancing.

Pronounciation as a native is going to be a little different. Just as I pronounce cappuccino or spaghetti it doesn't mean it's less correct, as it were, than my Italian partner. If I pronounced cappuccino as I read it as a native English speaker, i.e. cap-ooh-see-no, that's obviously wrong.

The initial problem may be resolved shortly, as I was advised on a recent sector that the Crock is being discontinued.
