IB booking, BA metal - possible to Avios upgrade?

IB booking, BA metal - possible to Avios upgrade?
I can't figure this one out. Or find a master thread to tell me (there may be one, but that doesn't improve my personal skills of finding it).
Have a fare that's about 40 per cent cheaper on IB, despite BA aircraft, so it's the logical booking... but I'd like to upgrade (checked and there is Avios availability). Possible?

To use BA avios to upgrade you need to be booked on BA issued ticket stock. See:
