I think you should look more carefully; I have seen lots of rodents in both countries over the years. In fact the notion that any country or city is mostly immune to rodent invasion is likely highly over-optimistic.

Regarding allergies (i am allergic to cats) as long as I don't physically touch them then I don't really have an issue. Fur won't be an issue with leather seats as it can easily be cleaned (good excuse for BA to get rid of those gastly old fabric sofas!)

Cat pee won't be an issue as cats are actually very clean animals (unlike dogs) and will only use their kitty litter which I am sure will be hidden out of sight!
Not only will my own cat gleefully urinate anywhere *but* his litter tray, sofas are his particular speciality. It’s a shame, as his mousing/ratting/rabbiting/grasssnaking etc. skills would make him a valuable member of the HAL team.
