Onboard WiFi has been introduced to BA's fleet and is being marketed as Highlife Connect. This thread is to track the rollout. See https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb.../wifi-on-board for BA's FAQ on the system.

Long-haul aircraft with WiFi fitted

A350-1000 - All fitted (12 aircraft).

A380 - All fitted (12 aircraft)

777-200ER - All fitted (43 aircraft)

777-300ER - All fitted (16 aircraft)

BA are currently trialling free WiFi in first class cabins. For those in other cabins the current cost on all long-haul aircraft is:
  • 1 hour: £7.99
  • 4 hours: £17.99

Short-haul and mid-haul aircraft known to have WiFi fitted and enabled

The majority of aircraft have wi-fi equipment fitted with the exception of those expected to retire within the next few years. Wi-fi equipment is installed after delivery and the rate at which this happens appears to have slowed down post-COVID.

G-EUXC/D/E/F/G/H/I/J/K/L/M
G-MEDL/M/N

Messaging - £1.99 or £2.99 depending on flight distance.

Browse & Stream (one hour) - £4.99

Browse & Stream (whole flight)

Or are they after 2020

Also are the due frames, namley the 3 ish 77Ws as well as the A350s/B787-10s delivered with the wifi already done?
I was wondering about those four frames as well...
Regarding the new aircraft - the Gogo 2Ku system has been available to be fitted on A350s in Toulouse since 2017 although Delta decided to bring the fitting in-house after a while. This article suggests this was for cost reasons - if you have the expertise to do it yourself it's apparently cheaper than getting it factory fitted. https://blog.wandr.me/2017/11/delta-...in-house-a350/

Whatever BA decide I'd say it's almost certain the A350s will have wifi on their first commercial flights.
The same is probably true of the 77Ws. Regarding the 787-10s, these could be different as I don't know if Gogo has the STC to fit the system on the -10s yet although that may not be an issue by the time deliveries start in 2020.

A350 and 787-10 aircraft will have there WiFi systems fitted by the manafacturer during the production process. The aircraft will be the first in the fleet to be fitted will be the Panasonic Satellite Conectivity System.

The Gogo system will be fitted to all 787-8 and 787-9 by early 2019

Ahh my bad!, hmm anyone know what the reason is for ZBJL being missed and skipping to ZBJM?

Hmm, is this the same sort of thing as Gogo, 2ku etc? and just using equipment supplied by panasonic instead of gogo?

Thanks~

I believe the Panasonic system has more to offer than the Gogo one. More info can probably be found here:

I didn't realise BA were going for Panasonic for these aircraft. I know it's fairly common for big airlines to split their wifi providers, Iberia are doing the same thing with Gogo being retrofitted and Panasonic on new aircraft and airlines like Virgin and AA also have two or more providers.

I don't think Panasonic will last too long (a few years still though!) on BA planes - I think its the only option for factory fit and will eventually be removed to be replaced by gogo.

VS have the Panasonic system on their 787's, it is data limited (i believe due to Panasonic restrictions) 150mb max for the flight

Seems an expensive way to do it~ as in paying for a factory fit option and then ripping out a few years down the line when you could just retrofit them in after delivery and removes the need to replace the systems with a different one.

It will depend on whether the aircraft operating that flight is fitted with the WiFi system and is working properly.

BA use different aircraft every day on each route. It depends when you're flying but, at the moment, BA289 is done by one of the mid-J 747s and none of them are getting wifi fitted. This will change as the 747s retire and A350s come in but that won't be for months or, depending on how they do it, years on some routes.

As you posted this at 5:24pm, I'm assuming you're not on today's flight, which seems to be operated by G-CIVE, which doesn't (and apparently won't) have WiFi. Tomorrow's flight is expected to be operated by G-CIVL (according to FR24) and is in the same boat. Actually, scanning back for the past week it all seems to be Mid-J 747s, and none of them have it (according to the wiki).

Edit: Beaten by Schind.

Right. I won't know for sure. I will find out soon enough.

Actually, I'm flying back home from BSL-LHR-PHX on March 11. I won't know for sure about WiFi on my flight. Do they have USB port? I need to do charger for my iPhone.
