Mad carry-on spotted

A passenger with a scooter bag just appeared in the LHR T5 Galleries North lounge. I won't take a picture, but to give you an idea it's one of these I think

https://www.micro-scooters.co.uk/mic...ter-black.html

I assume it's non compliant and will be gate checked ...

I saw somebody with one of these at T3 arrivals last week. Since it's quite a long walk along straight corridors he made good progress, even more so on the ramp down to the immigration hall. Raised many smiles with other passengers.

Looks similar to the Bugaboo trolley system being officially promoted in the Flounge. The scooter one you linked to actually looks more compact than Bugaboo, with added ride-on functionality!

Both are sold as being carry-on compliant.

Wow. With the shortage of space overhead I am amazed and, frankly, sceptical.

Size of product: 56cm x 35.5cm x 25.5cm

Size of cabin baggage allowed by BA: 56 x 45 x 25cm / 22 x 18 x 10in

10in = 25.4cm so assuming that 1mm can be compacted enough to get in the sizer then it would be fine. So in theory 1mm to big but in practice....

I checked that too...It looks like I'd be ok for now, but a few Vegas buffets might put me over the edge

I saw a young man, maybe 12 years old, coming through T5 arrivals on one of those a few months ago.

I was on flight last week ( Malaga to LGW ) and someone tried to bring on a six foot unicycle. They got as far as the air bridge before someone finally spotted it might not fit in a overhead bin and got them to check it into the hold. It was huge.
