BA632 first officer taken ill

As title indicates, announced minutes before we were due to board for 1315 departure... how screwed are we?

Where does BA632 go from/to? It really helps if you post this vital information.

Apologies it is lhr to Athens. I'm worried that even if we get a new FO quickly the 3h 40 min flight time will put existing crew close to the cut off for shift duration.

Now that the routing has been resolved, not that it mattered, I await the answer to the OP's question

I suspect there are always standby crew available. How quickly they can get to the aircraft is a different question.

If it is operated by 767 or Airbus they will have standby crews rostered in crew report.... whether they have any available is another question depends how the operation is going so far today.

It matters a lot. If it was at an outstation, then yes, the OP would be screwed as there would not be any replacement crew available.

As it's at LHR, there should be standby staff available. So, not screwed.

Route and date in title are useful. No need causing concern for anyone on tomorrow's 632...

Hi,

BA.com now gives a departure time of 1400 so they must have found a replacement FO pretty quickly.

Yes just boarded so hopefully we'll be away soon, thank goodness they had a spare at Heathrow. Hope the original FO recovers.

Sadly, typical posts to FT are neither educational nor entertaining. This irony of this one is great.

A crewmember has a condition where he is unable to fly, and the first question is "How is this going to affect ME?"

I think the OP had a legitimate question and fairly standard responses it's not as if they know the FO personally.
