Comair business vs economy

Couldn't find another thread discussing this - apologies if there is one. Going to SA and flying Jnb-Cpt, two of us with an infant. Is the business product on Comair the same as Club Europe (i.e. Standard seats with an empty one in the middle) or does it differ? Am loathe to use CE these days but may be useful with the little one to have the extra space so far from home
Thanks

No it's a fixed 2-3 layout. Pics in stevieed's trip report here:

It tends to depend on the aircraft being used. They sell 2-3 across the fleet, but on the 734 (and some 738s) the middle seat on the left hand side is blocked (and squished down), if it is there.

Comair Business Class is way better than CE. Plus the Slow Lounges are also excellent.

Comair run Boeing 737's with a 2-3 configuration in business (AC DEF). So the seats are wider but they don't guarantee to keep the middle seat E free, and since JNB-CPT is a busy route you can't expect this.

Both times I've travelled this route in business I've had no one sitting next to me, the service is very good with drinks constantly topped up. And the spread at the slow lounge at JNB is amazing

Comair J is probably one of the reason I still live in South Africa ! Fantastic crews , food, lounges and service. BA Comair have a few configs, either 3-2 and then the odd 2-2 in the latest 737-800's floating around. Comair are quite good at mixing people around T-48hrs on not so busy flight so everyone can have at least a seat free next to them.

Definitely agree on the SLOW lounges. Very trendy decor and I was very impressed by the variety and the quality of the food and drinks on offer.

I used Comair about a month ago and the business seating was 2+2 in the newer 737s and the old 2+3 with converter seats in the older planes.

If you can get a decent price for the trip you will find it light years ahead of CE, from the SLOW lounges to the on board service.

There is no BOB on Comair, and you get decent wine and food in economy.

The service is business is a vast improvement on BA in Europe, with extra leg room.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated - this forum is so amazingly helpful. Presumably as BA golds we can use the lounges even if flying in economy?

A not-so-widely-known-secret is that Golds can actually use the Comair domestic "Slow Lounge" no matter what airline or class you are flying in. Yep, flying a low-cost competitor, but got a Gold card? They'll let you in, no questions asked. Silvers not traveling BA they will let in too, if BA doesn't serve the route you're flying.

shhhhh , us South African based flyers prefer this to be kept very out of public eye.

Flew Windhoek - JNB yesterday and again discovered that Comair Club far better than CE. Was escorted from lounge to front of boarding queue (embarrassed) . Seats were 3-2 and all bigger than measly CE both in width and ( noticeably) in legroom. Food at 3pm for a 2 hour flight was substantial salad followed by a steak etc as "good" as any in BA First, desert and large cheese portion. All there incl toothpick. Drinks continually offered. Reminded me of the good old days. A very good value redemption!
