Contacting BA from USA

I'm trying to phone BA to change my flight home at the weekend.
I have a UK mobile which shouldn't be a problem but I'm getting a 'your call cannot be connected as dialled' message for all the numbers that I try.

Dialling the UK 191 number gets a we're busy - try later response.

Any ideas?
The numbers that I have are 1 800 452 1201 & 1 800 247 9297
+1 doesn't work either

Skype over wifi and the normal 0800 number. It's free.

There is a BA Contacts thread in the Dashboard with all the relevant contact numbers.

However I'd advise you to consider installing Skype on the your smartphone, or a VOIP alternative such as Google Voice, which makes life a lot easier when travelling.

Use the 1-800-247-9297 number.

I'd recommend trying from a landline, as there has been a longish delay (up to 10 mins) in their answering calls in past week or so.

Couple of basic tips if you're not familiar with the US phone system (ignore if you are):
- you don't put any area codes in front of the 1-800... number.
- If you're in a hotel or office - dial the external number, usually a "9", then followed by the 1-800... number. Check that the hotel allows free access to 1-800 numbers, so you don't get a nasty billing shock when you check out.

For anyone who hasn't twigged, that number is conveniently impossible to forget since it spells out 1-800-AIRWAYS on a (3 letters per number) phone keypad. Very useful.
