Waiting for flights to post to reach Silver

I decided to accumulate tier points to get up to silver as soon as possible to make a lot of upcoming BA short inter Europe economy flights as civilized as possible. By booking with BA and their partners trips to India and N & S America I calculated that I could do this and reach the 600 TP in around 6 weeks. Having made these trips I am now stuck on 500 points as the last but one leg of the journey, a LATAM business class flight from GRU to Miami, has not posted after 2 weeks. I read on the site that LATAM TPs and Avios can take up to 6 weeks to post and therefore my silver status could conceivably not arrive until I am well into my European flight schedule, thus defeating the point of rushing to attain it. Do I suck it up and and wait or are there alternatives?

Have you tried submitting a missing avios/TP claim? You can access the form from your BAEC homepage.

And your TPs will credit back to the correct date, and your status will be upgraded. You might need to get some manual intervention, but just because your year lapses doesn't mean you won't get silver at all!

This compounds the problem actually if it is subsequently back dated to when I qualified, meaning I have silver status for 4-6 weeks but cannot use it. So I lose 1.5 months of status.

Yet they give you 6 weeks extra at the end - the difference between the 9th of the month when your collection year ends and the end of the following month!
