I'm actually quite impressed that they offered to pay upto £1200. I would get a repair quote and send the bill.

Asking for compensation for your time and such I think is pushing it unless you have travel insurance

I see the point you are getting at, but on the other hand if you have spent more than that much on a bespoke suit you should have the good sense (and style) not to be sitting in your seat wearing the jacket still And if you are paying 1200 GBP for just the trousers (fine, indeed better, to keep this on during travel ...) you would probably have a spare pair anyway...

On a less facetious note, (i) agreed that it could also be damaged while being carried to the locker or during boarding, (ii) following the general line of answers above - bespoke travel insurance.

I'm not aware of any mainstream travel insurance that will compensate for consequential losses.

on EOS/E0 i was surprised to see a guy take off his trousers, wearing speedo style underwear, to change into pajamas. interesting times.

idea was just re clothing/jewelry/watch (not handbag) as opposed to baggage.

Does Apple even repair water damaged computers? I'm not so sure...

yes, regularly so, and normally quite quickly too.

As I said above, it's 1,131 SDR regardless of your fashion taste. If you want to wear a bespoke suit or carry around a Jackson Pollock under your arm, you should self-insure or be prepared to take some risks.
