If BA flight cancelled can I still use BA lounge?

It is looking very likely that my LHR - ORD will be cancelled because of the strike so I wondered... if I am rerouted on AA can I still use the BA lounges? I am travelling F.

If departing LHR on AA from T3 you can use any of the BA/CX/AA F lounges there. The CX F lounge is the best of the three.

If you are re-routed on AA, you can use any of the T3 lounges. Not sure why you would want to use the inferior BA lounges, when you have the fantastic CX F lounge available to you

Being in F, you can use of the AA, BA or CX lounges in T3.

However, I would caveat this point with the fact that AA do not offer F on LHR-ORD on the 788s, so you may be downgraded to J. You would then require BA Gold/OWE status to use the F lounges.

Great news.

Yes, I noticed that AA use 787 with no F. The downgrade wouldn't be the end of the world neither would using the J lounges I am sure.

Assuming you stay at least in business class you can use the BA, AA and CX lounges in T3. No access to the CCR in T5 however.

Good point about no F on AA LHR-ORD, I didn't realise that.

Is it perhaps worth a call to YouFirst, once the new flight is confirmed, to rebook via PHL, BOS or JFK, in that order?

What makes you say your flight will be cancelled because of the strike ? What flight are you on to ORD and what Date ? Not sure why your assumption is it may be cancelled ??

The LHR-ORD BA297 flight has been cancelled pretty much every day during the strikes (as has BA123 to DOH).

I also believe the OP is travelling on 14 August during the current strike period http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28635191-post156.html

Do you mean once the rerouted flight is confirmed? Are you saying that I might be able to request rerouting via PHL, BOS or JFK and remain in F?

Correct, sorry if this wasn't clear. Nothing is guaranteed but it maybe an option, or indeed any BA service to ORD that does operate. You best ring up with a particular set of options listed out in advance.

Thanks KARFA .... Explains things ... I am booked on BA295 for 9th and back 294 14th .... Only been checking that flight and just one cancelation during the strikes I think.

Good to see KARFA on the ball and as concise as ever

Thanks KARFA and corporate-wage-slave

This is all rather annoying for us as it is our first F flight! It is booked as part of a package through BA holidays which includes a car and a night in a Chicago hotel. I hope that that doesn't reduce our options if it is cancelled as it was particularly cheap!

If you want to fly AA in F you have only three choices to fly via: JFK or MIA or DFW so when you call BA and ask them to rebook you you must mention to them that you want to be rerouted via any of these three cities @:-)
