Lhr to Gig no first??

So seems BA have changed planes for the rio routes next year (777 to 787-8)

am so disappointed as had first booked for the 777 for honeymoon but now been "downgraded" to CW as no first on the plane.

why oh why couldnt it be a 787-9 😢😢😢
😒😦😦😦

Was it a revenue or avios booking?

If revenue you could ask them to move you to LHR-GRU in F connecting onto TAM.

Not sure if they'll do that for an avios booking - well they would but you may have to pay the extra for the connection to Rio. Worth asking anyway.

Was a 241 booking so its worth an ask but end of day CW would do as adding connection time (even with a cheap GOL flight) isnt worth it.

more interesting is not a single bit of comms from BA about it just notifications from myflights!!!

Yep that's pretty standard!

If you're happy enough with CW then no biggie. You will of course get a refund of the avios difference but you'll have to ask for it.

Out of curiosity could the OP play dumb and potentially claim involuntary downgrade compensation if BA fail to notify him and turns up at the airport expecting to fly in First?

Potentially, although given he's paid with a 241 and we know BA puts up a fight about how much comp to give for those even when the downgrade is clearly within the 14 days, it's probably not worth the bother.

There's no 14 day rule regarding downgrades. It's 75% of the amount at any time.

Unless you're desperate for the return of the Avios I'd wait and see what happens. We're not even half way through 2017 yet and you're not flying until next year.

This change to aircraft type (and loss of F) was made in mid-May so I wonder why it took myflights so long to alert the OP?
