Low taxes airport for Business Class

Hi folks,

I have a Lloyds upgrade voucher about to expire. I am looking to use it 2x inbound in J. I saw that Doha, for instance, has rather low taxes for business class (£78pp). Are there any other popular destination outside Europe which have low taxes for premium cabins?

Thanks

HKG is the best one - £28 or so - because there is no YQ.

Other than ex-UK it's not tax that is the issue but the YQ/carrier charge, which is just BA's word for extra fare.

and those carrier charges jumps the price from a base cost £28 to £205 per person (in F) for my recent booking out of HKG. Its pure profit by Ba and there is nothing you can do but to pay...

On a redemption? I booked a HKG-LHR redemption recently (in CW) and the cost was only £30-something all-in. I would certainly query it if you were charged £205 pp.

You aren't charged carrier surcharge for an exHKG flight. However, this is only the case if it is not part of a return itinerary, so a HKG-LHR flights as part of a LHR-HKG-LHR would get charged the normal surcharge, whereas a standalone HKG-LHR flight would not get charged any surcharge.

Ex-Tokyo NRT or HND are also good options, again thanks to Japanese laws on YQ.

Any other destination which has no YQ? Also, to clarify, does Doha also have no YQ? Thanks

Pretty sure TLV has no YQ. Could be AMM as well.

A bit of a stupid question. Can the upgrade voucher be used on AI or do I have to stick to BA metal?
