BA 777 F - refurbished or not?
Hi - taking the Mrs to JFK in F using BA miles and had us at the front of a 747 (her dream!) but they've told us today it's swapped to a 777. It's got 12F seats so assume it's a -200 which I've not travelled. Pictures look, well, underwhelming and I can't work out whether these have been refitted. Does anyone know? Thanks!

Welcome to FlyerTalk! As your query is specific to BA, we will move your thread over to the British Airways forum for further discussion. Thanks. /JY1024, TravelBuzz co-moderator

Thanks both. I assumed they were all refurb (save for a few 744s) however found some mention of some 772s that were waiting to be refurbished. It's a first F for both of us (if you don't count CX J at Easter so slightly nervous we'll end up on some older stock!

The 12F configuration is unique to the Rolls Royce powered 777-200ERs. These birds are fitted with the 2010 version of First and have the older TES IFE system installed. Have a peek here for more info: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/19928944-post5.html

Thanks and thanks, Prospero! Well, in a sense! 2010 F sounds underwhelming compared to what I've wandered past. That Bentley-harlequin stitched seat always looks so appealing! Might try and change - although still a few months out. But not holding much hope for a Nov JFK flight needing to upscale F!

Most of the 744s serving JFK have the new IFE, but there's still a chance of getting the older version. 777 is more spacious than the 747 seat, but otherwise almost identical. I would see it as a positive change. It will be a very comfortable ride in either, and I hope you enjoy the trip.
