Read what? Is this some internal BA thing, or something public.

In theory, during normal ops, nothing. We'll still check in, still use a lounge, still board a flight in the normal way.

But you're relying on third-party staff for it, so if you need help (especially during irrops when it's 'all hands on deck') or appreciate the friendly attitude from staff who've been there for decades, it'll seem a very different service. Compare the service at LAX or YYZ with, say, VIE and it'll become obvious.

In a way though, the staff concerned haven't helped their case over the last few years. The heavy unionisation and lack of flexibility in working conditions/willingness to try things differently has apparently caused frustration among hq management. Shame though, and they'll be missed.

Sorry I am unable to post what I can see internally, I'm not sure about contract handing in Canada but if it isn't already I think it will go that way.

YYZ certainly isn't - they confirmed that to me two-three months ago.

Presumably there will be openings for staff to apply to work with the contractor?

I'm sure that there will be but at what cost to their T&C and income?

Disaster indeed then! Guess just waiting for YYZ, my second home, to be changed over as well... I will miss all the friendly faces in JFK as well!

really is a race to the bottom. Funny how they made that big documentary out of which half was focussed on the staff at JFK...

A very British Airline? More like, a very Menzies Airline...

Sorry to hear this.

There did seem to be a air of glumness around the ORD staff in the last couple of months.

I love the staff at ORD, such a shame to see most of them go.

Sad, I know at PHX nearly all of the former staff are now gone (some stayed for a bit with the outsourcing company), other than a couple in the lounge.

Does this also mean things like Special Services agents will also be outsourced? Especially for JFK with so many flights I have no idea how this can actually save costs.

I can understand at places like PHL with their limited operations.
But JFK ?!

Calgary has a BA station manager (not sure if there are any other BA staff there).

CIHY, is this implemented today, or just announced at the end of a review period? I sense from the tone of your opening post that today is implementation
