JAL redemptions not available online
 
There is currently an issue when trying to book JAL redemptions on ba.com. We are working closely with JAL to resolve this, in the meantime it is still possible to book via our call centres.

Yep, can confirm this to be the case... After a few days of the website telling me the flight could not be booked, I phoned for a redemption booking on Saturday and was processed without any query or hint of phone booking charge.
