"Sorry sir, we can't guarantee a well done steak"
Was on a LHR-YYZ WT+ flight and selected the steak and potatoes option. Mrs Numb3rs who sat beside me got the same thing.
I started eating mine was was pleased with it. Cooked well done, as all my steaks have been in the air, and was not too dry. Mrs Numb3rs was not happy with hers at all, it was bloody red. Now I know someone would love the steak in that condition.
I notified the CSM of the issue and was told. "Sorry sir, we can't guarantee a well done steak". This was due to the sizes and shapes of the steak and that is why there would be different levels of how well the steak was cooked.
Not a complaint from my side per say but just curious if ppl on the forum here agrees with the CSM or do I have a valid arguement?

they can't guarantee it - the meals just go into the oven for a set period of time, and depending on the size/quality of the meat that gives a different result in terms of rare/cooked steak....
even in First I don't recall ever having a 'choice' in terms of how steak/beef is cooked
that said - would have been pretty easy for them to just stick this one back in the oven for 5 minutes once the issue was raised

In my experience, getting a well done (overcooked) steak is never a problem on BA. They are usually nuked to an inch of their existence, and hence becoming as tough as old boots. This is the reason to swerve the beef on a BA aircraft.
There have been a few examples on FT where it seem some crew can manage to ensure a shorter cooking time, but this seems to be very much the exception not the norm.

I don't think I've ever managed to get anything other than "nuked" on BA. Somehow most other airlines (AA, QR, QF, EY, etc.) manage to get to at least medium, if not rare. God knows what BA's food safety gurus make cabin crew do to them.
