How do you lose a painting?
So sitting in the CCR and I've heard repeated announcements to come to guest services if you've lost a painting (and reading glasses).
Now ... a rolled up painting I could understand. But I've seen it being moved - it's framed, and it's not small, like the size of a carry on (width/length) bag.
How, on earth, do you forget that?

Maybe it's a deliberate loss!

i left a massive box in my local shop yesterday. Put it down to get my wallet etc, queue of people behind me, got a bit flustered, picked up my shopping and left without it (someone shouted after me so I got it back!).
If you don't normally carry a big box, it's easy to go into a mode where you just pick up and go with what you normally carry (wallet, passport etc) and forget the massive extraordinary items. There will come a moment of panic when the traveller realises though...

the number of times I have left my phone at various machines in the gym because it's not attached to the earphones...

lol yeah I have a similar problem with my smart watch .. At least it vibrates to tell me I have left the phone behind haha

Utter panic on my return four days later when the car was nowhere to be seen... was on the point of calling the police when I realised...

Caps.. As a non hat wearer I lose at least one on every holiday.. Put it on as its hot , go inside for a coffee , take it off and forget about it as I leave..

We went Ex-DUB for our trip out to get married, complete with two pieces of hand luggage each including wedding dress and top hat. We have not managed to master HBO yet, and a such are normally only used to one piece each.
All was going well until we hit security at LHR where we got moved from the priority lane to be behind a large family as "the queue is smaller, you'll get through faster". Said family of course then turned out to be unfamiliar with flying and took a very long time to process.
Our patience was feeling very tested at this point. When finally through we danced around the family trying to reassemble themselves, grabbed the bags and proceeded to the (relative) sanctuary of the lounge. As the flight approached we moved to the lounge at B gates. On settling in there my wife-to-be mockingly commented that she hoped i had remembered to bring all my bags including my hat.
At which point we realised the wedding dress had not made it this far... cue a very fast run back through the tunnels and up to security where sure enough the bag was still sat.
Fortunately the security team saw the funny side of things when they asked us to describe the contents of the bag before opening it!

When a valuable painting is shipped, there is often a requirement imposed on whoever is causing it to be shipped to have it be escorted by a courier, who is personally responsible for watching the boxed work be loaded both on and off the plane.
I presume that is not the case here!

Keys, always keys with me.
Wind back a couple of years and depite frantic searching - turning bags out and finally deciding the housekeys were lost forever I changed all the locks (thank you Youtube !).
As soon as I had finished I decided to celebrate with a nice frothy coffee, put my coat on and my original keys were in my pocket -DOH !
I have left MrD's briefcase at the exit to the security slope at JFK T7 and once in duty free - its not my fault !!!
I can completely see why someone would forget a painting - not your run of the mill tpye object you would normally be carting around.
