A tier point credit would've been easier and cheaper.

A rise in Tier level requirements is likely.

Disrupted over the weekend and both wife & I got the magic email.

Wife made Silver with the re-booked return flight, so quite a result for her!

I flew from LHR on Friday evening and came back to LCY on Monday so wasn't affected at all.

Only achieved Silver at the beginning of this year!

Just got this too - would love to know if it means GGL or Gold, GGL would be a serious goodwill gesture which would be gratefully received in this house.

I have to say that I'm pleasantly shocked. I received the e-mail and had a flight booked over the last weekend that was cancelled twice. ^

The fact we are all so surprised does, IMO, show that BA have genuinely gone beyond expectation here. However, it also shows how concerned they are at the impact. Let's face it...BA's approach to customer relations has been genuinely shocking over the past year.

I just picked up on this thread, and wondered why no email for me..
Then I opened up my email and there it is 2 years extension.
My flight was cancelled on Saturday.

I remember some years ago BA gave away some Avios during a round of strikes.

Hopefully this won't backfire on them.

You might find a lot of people now don't need to fly BA quite as much to maintain their status.
I could easily fly anyone with else, showing no real loyalty or credit to their programmes, and happily reap the benefits of the odd Ł40 ET flight.

Got it as we well. I'd expect for GGLs they are renewing GGL status rather than Gold. Not so sure they're going to renew CCR as well.

If indeed it is a 2-yr extension beyond your current year - might this turn into effectively 3 years for some if they have just started their new membership year when the updates are made? Given how close we are to the 8th of the month ...

I was caught up in the disruption and got the email. My wife, who wasn't, didn't.

Maybe an email to everyone flying BA from Saturday to Monday? Should be easy to set a filter. (Probably easier than filtering it down to flights cancelled/delayed)

Sadly BA IT seems to be working correctly in that I wasn't caught up in the disruption and haven't received an email Glad to see that one week on BA seem to finally be getting to terms with how you do decent customer service...
