If your journey was disrupted -
Because of the scale of the disruption, most passengers should expect to make their own arrangements to mitigate the disruption as BA will not have resources to assist all passengers. BA have a duty of care under EU Regulation 261/2004 and according to this letter handed out at Gatwick the following costs would usually be claimable from BA.
If an overnight stay is required
Although BA has suggested some guideline costs for duty of care, EU Regulation 261/2004 doesn't specify any monetary cap. By documenting (take a screen capture of a hotel comparison site for example) that there were no cheaper alternatives, it is possible that claims exceeding the guideline costs suggested by BA may be met. Expenses not covered by BA may be claimable from your travel insurance subject to possible policy excesses.
Duty of care is separate from fixed sum compensation (EUR 250 to 600 depending on the flight distance) for flight delays/cancellations, which may or may not be payable under EU Regulation 261/2004 depending on whether BA can show that the flight delay was caused by 'extraordinary circumstances' and that it took 'all reasonable measures' to avoid the resulting delay. Also, airlines do not usually entertain claims for consequential losses (for example, the cost of prepaid accomodation which you can't now use), so you would need to look to your travel insurance for these costs.
EU Regulation 261/2004 does not cover delayed/damaged/lost baggage. The Montreal Convention sets an upper limit for delayed/damaged/lost baggage compensation. For more information, visit the BA.com webpage on delayed/damaged/lost baggage.

All BA flights from LHR and LGW are cancelled for the remainder of the day (Saturday 27th May). This is due to a major systems outage of most of BA's computer systems. The original cause of the outage was a power failure from which BA has found it difficult to recover.
Because Call Centre systems are also down, and their own web pages may be affected, BA is encouraging affected customer to seek updates via BA Twitter feed and Facebook page.
Alex Cruz has indicated that those passengers who no longer wish to fly with BA on their booking for today will be "fast tracked" for refunds. However, no mechanism for this has yet been communicated (7pm Saturday). Again affected customers are asked to follow the relevant Twitter and Facebook communication channels.
There are reportedly long delays leaving the airport with some customers claiming delays of many hours.

It looks like, beyond a certain point, BA reroutes very late arriving aircraft to LGW. BA349, originally due to take off tonight at 8.40pm from NCE is now expected to take off 5 hours late at 1.40am and land in LGW instead of LHR.

Almost certainly you will not be allowed into the building until 90 minutes before departure, so aim to arrive at T5 at 95 minutes. Arriving early really won't help you or the airline.

I was going EDI/LHR on first flight Monday morning. I was then on LHR/PHL at 1240 using another ticket. Got through to GGL in 5 mins (google voice not skype c-w-s, there are other VOIP services available). If you are GGL the wait times are reasonable.
We looked at some messy options to NYC but just went for a 24HR delay. All round pretty good experience, still won't put me on single PNR so I can check bags through but hey ho. I am done forcing the issue these days and figured things may be a bit calmer by Tuesday. Good luck to all and those who have more urgent need to get somewhere.

Here is my end of Sunday report, which should be regarded as superseding my other posts, I've collected the data from the start of the day from fresh, so this will capture any late cancellations between previous updates. This extract was run at 22:00 BST.
I reckon there were 348 flights scheduled today. There are 361 flights that I've capture in the second table below, but there was 1 flight to DXB carried over to today (but still cancelled!) and a number of charter flights to interesting places but though I've kept them in the listings I don't regard them as part of the main service. I've tried to exclude the EI / AA codeshares but it's possible some have crept in somewhere here.
So the cancelled list is below and consists of 97 flights. Of these 1 (the first one) was actually scheduled yesterday, and 5 are charter flights, some of which seem to have been combined. So that gives a total of 91 scheduled BA mainline flights cancelled. So that gives a total cancellation rate of 26.2% by aircraft number. If we assume 300 people were affected by each cancellation (150 people each way) then that's about 27,000 people. Now it's open to conjecture what percentage of people affected, but if we say 440 people would be on a return longhaul service (some are overnights) that kind of suggests that about 20% of passengers had cancellations today. Rather more had long delays to their services, as shown in the second table.

Thanks for the advice and this is most likely true, I have a flight mid morning tomorrow and need to set out early. What is super frustrating is that BA have not updated their website since 7pm and it states it was doing the 90 mins advice today, the instructions for tomorrow offer a move of flight\refund and no mention of either cancellations or a suggested arrival time. The communication from BA is probably the worst thing about this entire weekend!

I must second the thanks to CWS. Invaluable throughout the weekend.
Amazingly made it to HND, with bags, 25 hours later than planned but otherwise unscathed. Feel very lucky compared to many.
Also huge thanks to Emily from the NCL Gold line who sorted out a rebooking at 06:01 Sunday AM- anyone struggling with hold times for calling, set your alarm for Monday morning!
Good luck to everyone still affected.
