Given the choice, I'd take Prosecco.

Neither if us are ‘moved’ by the Champagne hype. The general ‘feel-good’ of something sparkling is a different aspect ... as with today, with a high-grade Prosecco as an apertif* before a posh lunch out to celebrate her nth birthday.

* Organised by my son/DiL and presented on arrival with a birthday card from the establishment.

Only drink "fizzy" be it Champagne or Prosecco and only in a Coupe {saucer} shape, no chance of it being knocked over and so much easier to hold.

Up until about 2017, Virgin served Champagne in a coupe glass. Very stylish!

According to a friend who was an Ambassador of Champagne, more correct than a flute. Champagne should be served in a glass of the style that BA serves Champagne in the CCR and FIRST. At home I have it in white wine glasses.

I have assorted sets of glassware, but agree with your basic precept. I know nothing of CCR or First, but at least a tall, slim glass of whatever nomenclature respects the pettilance.

I'll have it in a beer glass. I don't stand on ceremony.
