I think most people will put up with the ignominy of travelling on QR while earning full BA miles and status benefits (even if those are only as a blue in economy.... they're still no worse off).

Not sure why anyone would want to fly BA to DOH when QR offer a superior product and are part of the oneworld Alliance.

Moving forward this will be operated by a LGW 777 configured 3-4-3 in Y. Compared to a QR 787-8 on the LGW route which is 3-3-3 I don't think there's much comparison - they're equally as cramped from a passenger perspective. If exit rows are important, you can't secure these in advance on QR even as a gold - only released at check-in. Where as you can on BA where they're free for gold's and purchasable for anyone else. IFE is latest generation on the LGW 777 but probably still not as advanced as QR. Service is always going to be subjective - I happen prefer BA's offering. QR in Y really isn't anything special, although I like how they put the Y menu on the IFE so that you can see what you're about to be delivered. The second meal service is also consistently poor by comparison which says a lot considering BA's is pretty pathetic. QR crews in my experience tend to be robotic and generally lack any warmth or personality. There's been exceptions (particularly crew with African and Asian origins) but generally BA are consistently much better in this area. The only thing QR do to BA golds that BA don't do for their own on a consistent basis is secure first meal choice. If you're anything less than gold you're on your own. And like someone else mentioned you've also got WTP on BA whereas no equivalent product exists on QR. Theoretical seating should also effectively block adjacent seats on BA too for those with status where available. So with all these considerations, I'll happily stick to BA when flying anything less than J to Doha.

When QR were still operating from T4 (RIP), BA from T5 was far more convenient for both arrivals and departures, and like others have said WTP was quite often great value. It's a shame that BA aren't operating such a key route from LHR any more, but at least they haven't given up on it totally.

does anyone have any info on whether this route is definitely going ahead?
there haven't been any cancellations so far so my assumption is that it will go ahead but I am hoping for it to be cancelled so I can move my J booking to QR!
