I was just coming out of the loo in our WeWork office yesterday when I was recognised by a HFP reader who had, totally coincidentally, come to our building and our floor for a meeting with someone else!

I've had a lot of near misses, by not checking my phone or being late etc, but still looking forward to meeting someone soon

We should really come up with a secret handshake or something... If nothing else it will create some great conspiracy theories....

You could always ask if their flying BA1 if in LGW or LHR as the majority of BAFT''s will know it's LCY

Such awkward situations can clearly be avoided by ensuring that one always travels in Y and maintains a suitably pauper-level tier.

Seriously though I'd much rather keep to myself and I don't see the allure of the whole "DO" thing either.

I was in the CCR last year and I saw someone sitting down who looked like Navylad. This isn't as random as it seems as he had recently posted a photo of himself in a trip report and he had flown into LHR that morning from Seattle and was transferring according to one of his postings that day. Anyway, I pluck up courage and say "Hi, are you Navylad?" The look I got in return you'd have thought I'd made some sort of indecent proposal and I received a gruff "No I'm not". It wasn't him!

I was mortified and have vowed never to approach anyone I think could be an FTer unless approached first!

Surely we are looking at this the wrong way. As with anything on this board, the answer is key.

If posed a question - ANY question - any true BA FlyerTalker will answer either "There is more information on this in the Forum dashboard" or "There are plenty of threads on this if you use the search function".

An easy way to identify each other. Sorted!

Some on here would see that as a lucky escape

Re 4, didn't our esteemed Ambassador post a photo of himself with a load of Ferrero Rocher several years ago? I can't find it, but I do remember it...

Just wondering when I could shout that line out in the lounge. To be fair the BA section is alot better than most. I've found the LH lot to be more 'search the thread-ie' than BA.

I'm surprised some of us haven't created a 'FT corner' of each of the galleries lounge. With bouncers wanting proof of FT membership before entry

I think you just ask the person if they know what CWS stands for.

Job done.

I'd say that if there is an obvious 'sign' that people might want to be recognised as FTers, like them using the luggage tags, and a good reason to think they might be often on this forum (e.g. this is a BA flight! ), then the best would be to discretely approach and say something like: 'I don't mean to intrude but I couldn't help noticing your Flyertalk luggage tag so I just thought I'd come to introduce myself in case we have already been in touch in writing, I'm "orbitmic" on the forum'.

If you are not a poster they happen to hate and if they are in a mood for a chat you'll find out soon enough. If the answer is 'ah, ok, thanks for that.', you can just return to whatever it was you were doing!

I googled CWS Ferrero Rocher images and one came up of a Jersey do. Is that the one you're thinking of?
