Because as much as some members refuse to accept, most people do not fly to eat. It may be important for some here, which is fair enough, and I am happy that there are still airlines that can give them what they crave, but many people, myself included, do not care for this stuff.

In the case of DME it was originally political. It's not really long enough for the WT/CW product, it's about the same length as Funchal and much shorter than Larnaca, but at one point demand for this service was rising very fast, Russia's economy was expanding, carried by primary industry, and BA decided to deploy 747s and 777s to DME with the CW / WT products. Russians would be happy to spend money on BA, given that Aeroflot's reputation for robust flying is well known among the locals, along with with quite a fair degree of Anglophilia over there. So the route was shifted from band 4 EuroTraveller (as it then was) to full longhaul.
Not long after, relations between Russia and the West, and the UK in particular, took a massive tumble, such that the same decision to switch fleets would not be made today.

Long may it continue. I get Club World not Club Crap

Was a little bit surprised today. Colleague flew in on the BA233 operated by a B772 and still got the egg & cress roll for breakfast.
Did I not read on another thread somewhere that the excuse for such poor catering on the A321's was limited space for return catering? Shouldn't have that problem on a B772 surely?

FIRST catering on BA233 LHR-DME
I've got a FIRST segment coming up - BA233 LHR-DME. Seeing it is a 0845am departure, I was wondering about the food options likely to be available on this flight?
Ideally I'd have breakfast in the Concorde room and then a substantial hot lunch towards the end of the flight, if available...

I thought it might be breakfast-based catering on this flight, but would still be useful to have a look at the menu. Given that I’m likely to board feeling pretty full from the CR visit, perhaps I should politely ask whether I can be served e.g. the mixed grill towards the end of the flight? A bit unconventional I guess, but if it they’re serious about dine on demand then this shouldn’t be an unreasonable suggestion?

WT+ catering
Hi, is anyone able to shed any light as to the WT+ catering on the DME route? Is the scaled down club offering or just a sandwich ala WT?
