So what happens if you are a GCH, but not in First, and use the first class check-in desks?

Are you escorted to the back of the security line?

On Monday I checked in using the first Wing and wasn't travelling in First. I was escorted to the front of the line too.

The only time I've ever asked was when I was in F as I thought it was an F benefit.

I have seen plenty of other people walk back out of the F check-in area and join the main line over the years. If that is something available on request to Golds I wish I knew about it a few years ago!

Absolutely correct. It's a breeze for the last BA JFK-LHR of the day.

Same when I departed (not in F) a few weeks ago.

you aren't (normally) escorted anywhere. you just join the queue.

i have been 'escorted' to the front of the queue off the back of my CCR card (when travelling CW). but the staff member wasn't entirely sure whether he should or not so i don't think it's necessarily a given.

Anyone have any inside knowledge as to what the state of things might be at the end of this month?

I'm hoping for 'better', but I guess it's probably a toss-up between better, just as bad, and even worse.

I just came through last night. All I can say is get there early! The fast track queue was huge, not helped by about 30 people joining from the normal queue having been escorted round by a member of staff. Usual palava of pushing your stuff uphill while folks faff around you!

Club lounge was packed. I got a token that said speak to a member of staff for premium champagne and a ‘delectable appetiser’. Staff in main lounge knew nothing about premium champagne. When I went through to dinning room, one lady nodded and poured me the cava. I went to another lady, she gave me one glass of Pommery (premium apparently) and took the ticket off me. When I asked how I would get another glass without the ticket she just shrugged and said she had to take it. Not sure what the ‘delectable appetiser’ was as there was just the buffet and nothing else offered.

A half arsed attempt to provide a slightly elevated experience to a First/Gold that fell flat on its ... - I would rather they didn’t bother!

Old equipment flying back back and missed out on dinner service completely, including drinks round finished the evening off! I just went to sleep.

Regards

I was on the 178 last Tuesday and the slope was open. I was in J so had the schlep to the lounge. My shortcut is to go through the food court and duty free area - works well.
Its been open every time bar one in January on my recent visits.

exactly.

typing this from JFK.

on the 112 so the 6.30pm. arrived from T8 at 4pm ish. and there were maybe 10 pax in the premium queue. a show of the F BP to the BA staff member at the entrance to the F check-in area (we didnt use / need to use the check in desks) lead to a 'this way please sir' and being 'escorted' to the front of the queue.

Thanks for the warning ... seems like the F lounge is closed without meaningful alternative provision

Same scenario on Sunday evening when I flew back.

Flashed CCR card, having checked in at the CW desks, and the staffer wasn't sure if I should be escorted to the front. As it happened, a colleague of his came along and said it was fine, so we were placed at the bottom of the slope - but ahead of 15 rather irritated looking other passengers!
