I booked EDI-LHR-NRT in first on Thursday morning and the UK leg was free, cost 120,000 Avios.

Edit: that was using a 2-4-1. Waiting for T-355 for the return leg.

I was on the Amex site and I noticed that the BA Amex card no longer provides a 2-4-1 voucher at £20k spend, when did this enhancement land?

Is it April 1? I don’t see any change on the Amex site.

The Amex app is still showing me that I have £x spend until hitting £10,000 my next 2-4-1, so I hope this isn’t a change (or if it is, I hope it isn’t retroactively applied!)

edit: never mind. Assumed incorrectly that the above discussion was about the premium card

Assuming that you mean the free (blue) card, as you mention £20,000, the Amex site says:-
Reward yourself

Reward yourself

Welcome Offer
Receive 5,000 bonus Avios when you spend £1,000 in your first three months of Cardmembership

2-for-1 Travel
Get 2-for-1 travel with a Companion Voucher when you spend £20,000 each membership year on the Card, which you can use to take a companion with you in the same flight and cabin when you redeem Avios for a British Airways reward flight. Taxes, fees and carrier charges apply

Earn Rate
1 Avios for virtually every £1 spent. The Card that rewards you for your everyday spending, with no annual fee

Supplementary Cards
Add complimentary Supplementary Cards to your Account for those close to you so you can build up your Avios balance faster
Seems pretty unambiguous to me.

It has taken nearly an hour on the phone, but I have my flights booked, at the normal rates of 125,00 Avios.

Tax was £668 each. Sounds high?

Call centre were not aware there is an issue but have raised it now, apparently.

Sounds about right. If you do a dummy cash booking on ba.com for a MAN to LAX rtn in J what does it show the taxes/fees/charges to be?

Maybe the poster looked at the initial Amex avios card screen on the website where it doesnt show the 2-4-1 on the Blue card bit. However when you click on it its listed then..

At what time of day did you make the booking, as I want to do LHR- NRT in F on 2-4-1. I am totally flexible on dates, as long as my wife sees the cherry blossom!

i assume I have to book at 00.01 UK time?

the seats are released at 0000 GMT so currently As the Uk is on BST you need to call at 0100 UK time.

bear in mind there is no guarantee F seats are released at 355 days, unlike the commitment to release 2 j seats.

But it does seem to have been a matter of not reading the website properly before making a categorical statement that "the BA Amex card no longer provides a 2-4-1 voucher at £20k spend".

In actual fact, no enhancement landed at all.
