Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

The picture kindly given by Bar Operator above is enough for us to work out most, if not all, locations, though I guess it isn't confirmed. Someone will get a semi official list nearer the time of implementation.

OK thanks, I didn't realise it meant the new bands, thought it was just info about BOB. Can you explain therefore how you perceive Malaga and Paphos will work out?

Looking at the photos, I believe the paninis will be replaced by a warm snack such as a quiche.
I don’t think there was much wrong with the paninis, except they did not look very business class like.

if you get a quiche instead with grilled aspargus and sour cream mixed with dill topping, it looks and sounds better,

Especially with the change to the wine service to have small bottles all around, all this banding is really not a good sign - if we assume the ones in the new band 4 get something like the current long service, we've got ten days of second guessing what gets replaced or taken off the tray as you move down the bands ...
Exactly. Nobody has said which bands get the hot meals yet - the press release and BA.com blurb just talk about 'shorter flights' and 'longer flights' - the latter of which appear to retain the all day hot options whilst the former get the salads, brunch and afternoon tea. I'm still hopeful that the new band 2 will get hot meals, otherwise I can't really see how this is an improvement.

Is there any information on special meals? Will there be changes there too, or not?

To be fair both presentation and quality seems better regardless Band 2 gets a hot meal (doubt it) or not.

AGP (Málaga) is marked into Band 3 here, and Paphos (PFO) is definitely going to be Band 4. So both are getting hot meals x2, cold salad alternative, from what we can make out, but I think we are going to have to wait for the specifics. I appear to have a band 3 and band 4 shortly after the launch, on my current plans.

yes that’s true and the extended breakfast was truly terrible. But why is TLL now band 4.

I agree actually - the sandwiches look better and I'm glad the scones are coming back and the panini are going. Salads and desserts look roughly the same as now.

Thanks, do you know yet if it is all day as present or going to be Brunch and afternoon tea on those 2 routes? Both my upcoming flights are outside the previous lunch/dinner times.

ps: the image suggest to me this is only LHR as I can't see places like FNC, NAP or BOD. Wonder if LGW will have the same or somehow modified banding.

That is the level of detail currently unknown but will probably become clear in the next 10 days or earlier. It would seem odd if band 3 and 4 are identical, for example, otherwise why have a band 4?

In all my years on BA, LHR and LGW have stayed in step with each other on this sort of structure (whereas not so for LCY). However it will be a different catering company and there have always been differences in meal items within the structure. So my guess would be same bands, same general idea food wise, but (e.g.) when we last had scones the LGW ones were nearly half the size of the LHR ones. Same Roddas pot however. LGW management get to choose their preferred caterer, subject to IAG's procurement process, so in due course the newly semi-independent T3 management could presumably choose a different caterer for T3's flights.
