Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

Menu on today’s 8715 1040 EDI-LCY.
Today’s fare on 8715 (1040 EDI-LCY), dressing was chilli, lime and lemongrass rather than the advertised thousand island but tasty nonetheless. Castelnau flowing on both the outward and my return from LHR.

Sorry forgot to say that the ‘non-specific’ dessert was a light vanilla cheesecake with raspberry sauce and coconut flakes on top. I’m not normally a coconut fan but was fine for me.

Coincidentally, it’s just over a year since I signed up to BAEC and flew my first 40 tier points down to LCY, now silver and this was my first reward booking, also coincidentally that and this trip shared the same excellent CSM.

And a dressing too? A dressing with a salad? Who has ever heard of such a ridiculously extravagant idea for CE catering? Do they think Alex is a zillionaire or something?

When will they learn from their cost-saving LHR/LGW friends?

Love the beetroot carpaccio, even if its appearance is a bit in your face - shame I've only seen it once. But the Balik smoked salmon is an excellent staple.

BA 631 ATH to LHR Breakfast

BA 631 Athens to London Heathrow
Club Europe
May 2018

Very disappointing - there was no menu card and the breakfast was no different from other European flight tier. It was basically a half-tray breakfast with your typical British Breakfast entree and then a tub of yogurt. The difference is the breakfast bread basket.

There was no other service after breakfast, but views were beautiful though!

I read here at FT that there used to be a bar service with mixed nuts prior to arrival.
It was not the case on this flight.

I just thought on the longer flight that there would be at least a fruit plate, but I guess they catered everything from London. Cruz really went out of his way to make Club Europe an unattractive product. Not sure if it is fair criticism but I can't help to feel this way.

Breakfast on the 8.05am BA890 to Sofia

Interestingly I think those numbers at the bottom are flight numbers for this menu?

The omelette was very tasty.

Remember on all BA flights the bars are open throughout the flight (until shortly before landing) and drinks will be brought to you if you ask. .

Well that is a tad subjective.

Try getting a second bottle of fizz on an AMS hop in CE.

Flying from LCY to IBZ on the 0715 I was offered full English or continental. Having selected continental I had a very small bowl of fruit put in front of me and was offered a pastry. Maybe I’m imagining things but didn’t there used to be cheese / meats offered as part of this?

I've managed it on a 30 minute LHR-MAN! On short haul, drinks can usually be ordered right up to the '10 minutes to landing' call.
