Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

In Italian it is panino and panini, in English traditionally panini (singular) and panini (plural).

It is made up in Italian first [as panino], then imported to English ... https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/panino#Italian Although the French also seems to use the plural, so maybe there is more to this etymology?

This is a bit of an inside joke, as I had previously noticed that orbitmic was rigorously insisting on panino for the singular.

---

OED says: "The Italian plural form panini began to be interpreted as singular in English use in the late 20th cent. (compare quot. 1985); this was soon followed by the appearance of the English plural form paninis."

GOT-LHR vegetarian breakfast. Very fresh and tasty. Mimosas kept coming throughout the flight without having to ask. Had to say no mas after 5 of them 😂

So it looks like the Veg options are a no-go for short band flights after breakfast - looks like Kosher may be the best option? Or are Muslim or Gluten Free contenders?

Hi guys!
I wanted to write a post (and then found this thread) when I first experienced the new CE catering few weeks ago flying GVA-LHR and having to choose between a panini and a one-prawn "salad"...man it was awful compared to how they treated you before! Can't consider this an improvement at all...hopefully I'll soon fly on some long CE route and I hope to experience something better!

Sounds like you didn't get to enjoy the (all-new) CE premium dessert, as pictured upthread (post #699 ) : 80 grams of sliced apple & grapes, elegantly presented in a plastic bag, kiddies kindergarten lunch-box style.

Something to look forward to perhaps on one of your future CE sectors with BA ......

with the exception. Of the kosher meal, most of the others are one and the same! Asian used to be different and I thought it would still be but the report upthread suggest it's now the one size fit all, even the child meal is!

BA's twitter team answer to a MAD passenger complaint (food reduction compared to previous offering) is quite astonishing.

Club World Europe to EDI, BA1446 departing 13:05. So Short lunch.

This is the salad, the alternative was beef panino, potato salad (slightly more than I got) and panna cotta variant dessert.

This looks like a very reasonable snack on 45 minutes domestic flight, not on 2+ hours flight to Italy
