Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Does anyone know if you get breakfast or brunch at the 0930 cut off? Flight in question is BA2957 GLA - LGW at 0930? I have been on a domestic pre BOB and a 0930 flight served breakfast to everyone

FYI Some days it operates at 0925 and others at 0935 or 0940 just to complicate it.

Cheers.

The last breakfast departure is 09:29, so in theory you are into Brunch if departing at 09:30. However that particular flight is a well known oddity, as you correctly highlight, in that it sometimes leaves before 09:30, so it is often loaded in LHR for a breakfast meal. I'm not sure you can count on that, so I would assume cold meat platter / panini, and if you're lucky it may be the full hot breakfast.

I'm puzzled by what comes across as highly wintery main dishes for a summer menu. It reminds me of those US airlines which, for years, have done trimestrial rotations with menu A in months 1, 4, 7, 10, menu B in months 2, 5, 8, 11 and menu C in monhs 3, 6, 9, and 12 which effectively ensures that their food is as un-seasonal as can be conceived! I really hope that BA does not move in the same direction!

Of course being on the day, no way to book Veggie meal. However at booking it clearly states food etc being part of CE.
Fast forward to flight and of course 2 meat options. Indeed not even enough food for all people on board due to other flights being cancelled. A packet of nuts it was. Crew were great, and cursing BA management
Thought I would drop BA a line to see what they said. I made point that working in catering, we always carry some veggie meals, as not everyone remembers to order or indeed may want beef or ham, so for the small cost it carries we keep some veggie options. Well reply was rather short as expected. Guess not much else you can do, but I dont see why they cant at least carry some veggie options. Guess it costs too much money

Thanks for your email about your flight from Milan on 6 June. I'm sorry you're unhappy with my previous response.
I appreciate your comments, but I must reiterate that there is no standard compensation or refund due in circumstances where a customer is unable to attain a special meal. Because you booked your flight on the same day you travelled, there was not enough time to request a vegetarian meal from our suppliers. The timescales for requesting special meals are outlined on ba.com, as outlined in my previous response.
As an airline, we are legally required to ensure that our passengers arrive at the destination they've booked. The service provided on board is part of the proposition we offer to our customers, but there is no legal requirement for meals to be served on board our short haul flights.
We do usually ensure that we have extra vegetarian options on board, however, this cannot be guaranteed, given the amount of space needed for meal provision on board.
As outlined in my previous response, your comments have been fed back to the Customer Experience team and the Catering team. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any compensation or gesture of goodwill for this issue.
This is a truly shocking response which I would tweet to BA and Alex Cruz. For BA to nakedly admit to only being interested in contractual requirements in getting you from A to B, even in premium cabins, is gobsmacking.

I note they have already done away with the cheese plate on DUB-LHR-DUB. However, I've also noticed they brought down a POUG to 79. For the past two years, I've never been offered it for less than 110. Rather than improving there inflight menu, they could do with improving the general attitude of their cabin crew.

Outbound flight was at 14:05 and inbound was at 20:35. I've take these flights three times per month. It was on the last two occasions the cheese plate was gone on both outbound and inbound.

Phew! You can always ask for a comments card on board which you are then able to post yourself if you have any feedback regarding the cabin crew. On the 2035, there should be a cheeseplate offered with the cold option. The hot option sandwich/flatbread comes with a side salad at the moment. Hope that helps.

Kind regards

I wonder if there was a catering issue? There is no cheese plate on the afternoon tea service, although there is a wedge of cheese on the ploughmans option. You should have received a cheese plate on the evening service though, unless you opted for the sandwich.
