Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

Long, Rest of day vegetarian lacto ovo offering:

I'm now getting bored of the mozzarella tomato dish - I just cannot escape it. Pasta main was tasty if a little over baked. The dessert was phenomenal

LHR-TLL

Menu distributed after boarding.

Drinks 25 minutes after departure. No hot towels at this point.

Tray with starter 45 minutes after departure.

Main served 60 minutes after departure

Tray cleared and coffee 90 minutes after departure.

The crew was working nonstop! Eventually, a third cabin crew previously working in ET came to the front to help out.

I like the long catering, it is substantial. But the catering in general is repetitive. For example my OH's starter was the main on ZRH-LHR (tomato and mozarella). I overheard one passenger complain about the lack of variation.

One detail: The cutlery was missing a fork. It is supposed to have two forks and two knives, but we only had one fork. The cabin crew purser (there were 2 pursers on board working CE) joked 'they must now have first graders wrapping them up'.

That looks great for LIN... although I thought Northern Italy was short/medium and therefore cold/insubstantial (similar to the various VCE experiences with the infamous butterfly prawn and potato salad)

Is the hot main course a change of heart, just Cityflyer, or just for LIN (i.e. £600+ walk up fare)?

As a business route, that would certainly make a difference - that's the sort of detail that would encourage me to choose C over Y...

I like the menu but the variation is a bit bad, I had the same menu on three flights in a week. ARN-LHR, LHR-BUD, BUD-LHR, LHR-ARN

The starter is good and tasty. Smoked duck.

Main, salmon on pasta.

And yes, a fork is still missing in the kit provided

Within a rotation, the inbound from the previous month slides over to the outbound. So inbound C became outbound A. Then LGW, LHR and LCY all have different menus, and LCY has a different approach anyway.

Or so I reckon, I haven't actually seen a B menu (outbound or inbound) yet so it would be good to see one to see if I got that right or not.

Here's an outbound B menu, so it looks like you're right

Poached eggs florentine - I would like to report the egg yolks were nice and runny, but they were solid.
