Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

So I contacted BAEC about the rubbish afternoon tea onboard BA716 as posted upthread and got the following unsurprising standardized answer within 3 days (my bolding):

Dear Mr xxxx

Thanks for your recent email. You’re clearly unhappy with the quality of our food on your flight from London Heathrow to Zurich on 08 May. We know how important our meal service is to our customers, especially travelling in our Club Europe cabin.
We choose our catering partners carefully and we set very high standards for food preparation. Our suppliers must have strict processes in place to ensure these standards are met. Our menus are also refreshed regularly and we include dishes that our customers tell us they enjoy.

We use Umami rich ingredients in our meals, as this improves the flavour of our food when in the air. All our meals are freshly prepared using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients wherever possible. We normally get very good feedback about our catering, so I’m disappointed to hear we didn’t meet your expectations. I’m sorry you feel let down.

The Catering team constantly review our menus and catering proposition and work hard to ensure that our customers enjoy their on board dining experience. They monitor and utilise customer feedback which allows them to design meal choices around current trends. I'll of course forward your comments to our catering team.

Thanks again for getting in touch with us. We value your support as a Gold member of our Executive Club. I hope we can welcome you on board again soon. Please feel free to contact me directly using the blue link below if I can help you with anything else.

To confirm, LCY flights are seeing a menu with choice of hot meals at all times of day in Club?

Can we update the wiki to include this if confirmed?

Flew LHR to Faro a couple of days ago. Reasonable food and service. The drinks offering was a touch slow unless you were drinking champagne where the crew came round with top ups on a regular basis!

Not my experience. Lunchtime flights on LCY Medium routes have 2 cold main choices in CE (based on two such flights in the last couple of weeks). This was on flights departing around 11:00, and is the same as before for this time of day.

The LCY offering is still better than the disgrace on LHR/LGW for Medium routes (unless that's changed recently, I'm currently avoiding CE on LHR/LGW Medium routes until it changes), but I've noticed a slight reduction in food quantity and a move to the small trays.

In fairness, I had the hot tomato chicken mozzarella sandwich on a 55-minute band one the other day, and was pleasantly surprised. It was substantial and tasty, and I'm not easy to please. Seems a big improvement compared to the meager offerings before.

That said, it would definitely be a major downgrade on band 2.

When I see that plastic packaged bread I keep thinking that is not right for a "premium" meal.

Interesting. But we saw a choice of hot dishes (including Fish & Chips!) on an LCY flight earlier in the thread.

Maybe it's an evening thing?

Is this the missing LGW menu? Somehow I managed to not get a photo of the paneer masala main course, which was pretty tasty.

Very nice dessert:
