Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

Had this (IST-LHR) plus the beetroot starter ( i.e. a piece of beetroot shaved into wafer thin slices designed only to cover the plate at low cost) , the rice was reheated to mush and the chicken dry as a stick. The cheese and dessert were nice.

Nice to see, but I presume still no fruit plate on breakfast flights, or scones on afternoon tea flights?

Can't complain about the description - chicken and prawn salad, with exactly one prawn.

I enjoyed a Salmon and potato salad on a GLA - LGW flight today. As there were only two rows of CE we were treated to a lovely at seat service with a most attentive crew. A welcome change from two awful euro traveller flights last week where the bob food ran out and the wine was warm. As I struggle to use my avios I think I'll be using them to upgrade all my SH travel in future.

LHR - MJV (Murcia) - Long - rest of the day meal (BA448 departed at 15:50 hrs). I went for the beef, one of the best meals I've had on a shorthaul service on any airline. I think we can now assume that the "Or" statement on the menu for cheese versus pudding should actually be "And".

Someone did order the Kosher meal, which must have been more substantial than the Medium band ones, the tray was huge, and I believe it had a hot component to it. But I think they decided to accept the standard meal in the end.

Timings [BST] to see the (potential) impact on Medium band meals:

15:50 Left gate T5B38
16:10 Take off from 09R
16:25 Drinks and menus handed out
16:39 Drinks round 2
16:46 Starter tray offered, main meal order taken
17:05 Main plate presented
17:18 Tray removed, tea offered
18:17 Touch down at MJV.
With 16 in CE, 101 passengers in all, A320, 2 crew in CE, 2 for ET. BOB completed before 17:00, Highlife Shop was offered thereafter.

Fully female flight and cabin crew incidentally.

Had the Kosher meal (passover) yesterday (MAD-LHR), a real gut buster! Didn't envy those getting half a panini!

I think scones are now gone for good, most unfortunately, even if some FTers hated them.

I suspect that the fruit plate is coming back to breakfast (it is cheaper than the Moma muesli, so I don't think they need much encouragement there!).

They could manage the fruit plate AND muesli surely (on Medium and Long at least).

Hi All,

As promised, here are images/info from my recent holiday LGW - JER.

On the way out I requested Asian Vegetarian, my partner Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian. I was feeling a little self conscious, so didn't take a picture of the meal, but did of the 'dessert'.

It was a late afternoon flight. Both mains were pretty much the same - cold veg salad consisting of boiled potatoes, asparagus, etc. The LOV had pearl mozzarella and half a boiled egg, the AV had instead of that some more potatoes and 'bonus' olives. Was offered bread.

The dessert was as follows:

On the way back, having learned my lesson that I wasn't going to be presented with some exotic curry, I requested the Lacto-Ovo Meal. Our flight was the 'brunch' time slot I believe? Image below. Was offered bread...

I tried very hard not to ask for the cheese off one of the 'standard' meals being handed out

My niece got the same served at her inter-kindergarten picnic. This is just pathetic, there are no other word for it. I was willing to give a chance to BA after the BAinvestment4U event but with this picture all my will disappear.
I am off to cancel the CE flight I booked and re-booked with the competition. After I have done this I will have 2 BA booking left, all in ET, and that is it. BA will be bottom of my list when it comes to choose carrier. I doubt I will 100% dump them but I will choose them when all other choices are unsuitable.

I had the Kosher meal last Friday. Hideous. 3 slices of chicken breast on a bed of salad if I remember correctly. All cold, nothing hot and it was on the small tray. Oh and the tub of water was frozen.

My usual Sunday night childs meal of chicken nuggets has also been enhanced. Slice of ham and some strong Swiss style cheese. A blob of cream cheese and half a cherry tomato. Not very child like. No Cheese biscuits and no fruit shoot to mix with my fizz

The tiny plastic bag of fruit (ŕ la primary schoolchild's lunch box) - 'presented' as dessert and pictured in post #699 - really is rather shameful.

When this all-new and much-hyped CE catering revamp was being designed and sampled (always assuming of course that such a process actually took place), one wonders just what level of manager within the BA bunker looked at the plastic bag, and determined that "yes, that's exactly the standard we want to provide to our most valuable customers, who have routinely paid as much as three or four times the cost of an economy fare in the hope of enjoying a premium experience ......"

From someone normally giving packed nuts in CW, I am not surprised at all for the packed fruit in CE.
