Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

Yes you can (and in my view probably should), but apart from KSML, you can order almost any of them and still get the same result.

angeloedades - yuck. To think that is served on ex-Band 3s where we used to have hot prawn pasta dishes is indefensible.

To be fair, LUX is not ex band 3, is it?

How gastronomic to serve bread with the panino. But then, we've had this discussion before.

I passed an Auntie Annie's yesterday and noticed they charge 3.50 for a pretzel.

Just had me imagining the BA head of catering must be a huge fan.

Since when was that Band 3?

Now I’ve had all 3 bands of catering and I’ve no problem with any of it. I’m a glass half fulll person except where wines and fine are concerned. I think that the greatest development is the serving of wines and Champagne in large bottles. Such an improvement in quality.

Still I’m probably not one who expects too much so I’m rarely disappointed.

In my one experience drinking white wine on a MAD flight, it was still really poor quality. Not comparable to say CW wines.

I must say that I am not getting that feeling on the wine. The other day I really DID fancy wine and asked what they had. I was shown the bottles and just gave up, went for a G&T instead. I think CE wines as just as poor as before.

Also, for all practical purposes, unless referring to the ultra short (MAN, LBA, etc) there are effectively only two catering bands: the low band is short+medium, and the high band is long. That means that what you get on LUX is exactly what you get on half of the former band 3 routes (e.g. MAD, NCE, OSL, etc).

Does anyone know what wines are served on the small band (ie. LHR to NCL)?

I was on the BA1338 last night and they looked suspiciously like the ones that used to be offered for free on domestic pre-BOB.

Very happy to see the Tanqueray minis making an appearance though ^

Boys - there is only one White wine that I drink on board and thats Champagne. In CW I go for that king of whites Chablis Premier Cru. I was thinking of the Merlot which goes so well with cheese. I, Pucci Galore, am a Cheeseaholic.

Now Oe never mind that. Why is all the butter French?

I don't think I've ever had a cheese plate in CE Pucci. Maybe I'm flying the wrong routes ;-)

You certainly still get a cheese plate (well, one piece of cheese on a plate) on 'long' routes. On 'medium' routes it was enhanced away when the catering changed - it did make a welcome reappearance (certainly it was there in May) but appears to have vanished again recently leaving just an empty plate on the tray

Maybe calling it a cheese plate isis overstating it. There a piece of cheese on a plate on Long Catering routes - so we get it to ALC. I hath to say that they have had some delicious cheddar on occasions Probably I should be called Mrs Grommit but Well matured Cheddar can be delicious. Personally I wish that theyd do Wensleydale.
