Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

For the afternoon flight it will be the dreaded afternoon tea or the rather pleasant Ploughmans, for the evening flight I think we are on the chicken salads at present so I wouldn't hold back on snacking in the lounge prior to boarding. The salad is adequate for the shortness of the flight, but it certainly isn't dinner - more of an appetiser.

If it comes with a scone I'll let them off.

Hopefully the JER lounge is ok for some sustenance, I've never visited.

I'm on the1855 LHR-CPH tomorrow. I currently have a Kosher meal booked. Last couple of times on band 1 it's been a very disappointing 3 pieces of pickled herring on a plate. Is this the standard CE KSML now, or might I have a change of getting something else?

That is correct, on flight like CPH, AMS, FRA, BCN the evening KOSHER meal is a cold salad (usually 3 piece chicken, herring, or salmon) with a side of cupcake/dessert of sorts and one piece of bread.
Should you venture to HEL or the likes the evening KOSHER meal is so nice and large I usually cant finish it.
I still hold that the KOSHER meal and quality is better then the half panino or anything else CE gets...

What is the 'lunchtime' Kosher meal to HEL in CE?

It doesn't.

(Although I recall some speculation somewhere this might come back with the long overdue CE second overhaul later this year?)

The recent salmon/quinoa Kosher meal is awesome. 10/10 would eat again, they should put that in the grab-and-go section of M&S. Not had the pleasure of the herring or chicken recipes yet. If they could get the challah to be less like a rock, then we'd be talking.

Mazel tov! As the good rabbi would say... The chicken is OK, herring I dislike in that recipe. I am having another 'long' dinner meal tomorrow on MAD-LHR hope to have something nice again!

I actually don't know, I haven't taken the long lunchtime flight for a while.

I once had a Y class Hermolis Salt Beef dinner before the snack pack then BoB days, it was the nicest Y class meal I'd ever had. Also the JER-LGW served a cold cuts and pasta salad a couple of years back it was delicious. Unfortunately I don't buy into this 3 small chunks of protein "meal", I could eat about 5 plates of them

Then go for the afternoon tea meals, i had amazing sandwiches, filled to the brim. The CSM even looked at the bleak looking afternoon tea sandwiches and couldnt believe. Pastrami was folded about 10 times in each sandwich. And the dessert so yummy!!!

Afternoon Tea sandwiches on the BA1448 to Edinburgh on Friday night - pretty poor show!
I am going back to the low calorie options!

BA Cityflyer catering AMS - CLY

This is what was served when flying from AMS to LCY. 40 mins flight.
It was a cold pulled beef salad. It was the worst meal I have ever had on a plane. Was not edible.,
Dessert was decent.
