Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.
This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.
Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833
-------------------------
Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

BA 705 2 June 18 VIE to LHR 19:35 departure so evening meal.
Chicken Salad
Panini was other choice of course, this was the better option IMO.
Had a great crew, hadn't flown BA in a while, using other carriers due to price or scheduling for my needs. Enjoyed the flight, managed to get 1F on A320 with no one next to me in 1D and the lovely cabin crew member provided just the right level of service and attention. ^
Safe travels.

I do enjoy the brunch plate on short band services. That and the Ploughman’s are my favourite short band meals/snacks. The lunch/dinner salads are woefully inadequate though on those medium band flights. The ‘afternoon tea’ should really be enhanced

BA0636 LHR to ATH 1030 03/06/18. A320 seat 11F
In 11F on a packed Athens flight , was actually quite impressed with how good the crew were, first drinks run was done very quickly which was surprising considering how far back I was. Beetroot and goats cheese starter very bland, chicken tikka wasn’t too bad and the dessert was lovely. It was a bit odd having the starter dessert and cheese plate given all at once, and the passengers seated across from me seemed to not realise a main was on its way and finished everything on the tray before the main arrived. Crew very proactive with drinks which was nice.

oops! Well spotted, indeed it was a 10 AM departure so brunch and agree with Tobias-UK that it is one of my favourites for SH catering. Thanks for the correction! ^

Todays offering LGW-GIB. Chicken was tasty. The cheese & biscuits with caramelised apple jelly, went down well.

Me too. Now, as we know the current brunch plate is a bit smaller than the former one. Conversely, we also know that in the time of numbered bands, brunch and afternoon tea were the two most disliked meal windows. If now, a lesser version of brunch and the afternoon Ploughmans' are our dominant favourites, it says a lot about how much the main lunch and dinner have declined on that length, so can only reassert my agreement with Tobias-UK that for medium flights, the current lunch and dinner are just badly inadequate. Let's truly hope that some genuine improvement comes by the end of the year.

I have had a few more snippets from an impeccable source, though second hand. This about the CE meal relaunch later this year.
- still aiming for September (so that perhaps means 1 September or 1 October since that is when the menus change over)
- moving away from large bottles of wine and champagne on Mediums / Long back to small bottles
- a somewhat indirect hint that current Mediums are getting hot food (curry was mentioned) though I suspect the existing zones will be rebased somehow
- team involved very excited by their project.

There's a photo here. It's now a bit less liquid, but I think it's a reasonable effort (though not the level of the CW fish pie of yore).
