BA blocking seats?

Due to fly to Lima on Sunday - noticed that most of the seats on the planes seems blocked rather than occupied.

I didn't see that from BA in the past.
Is anything changed?
Does it mean the plane is full?
They are still selling tickets and have 9/9/9 availability but looks like there should not be.
Have things changed since the new check-in system?

Thanks

HI - thanks - so basically hard to know if they are really being used or just blocked by the system.

Can anyone check the real load on that flight?

BA 2239 on 26th Feb.

Do you have status with BA ? This will impact on your seat choice ?

massi1234 Feb 24, 2017 4:48 am

Gold - but it does not seem to make a difference in the seat choice

Hmmm - I am no expert but Gold also and looking at seat map I can only choose 10D-10G

If you are new to Gold, and you became Gold after booking this flight, then you may need to refresh the booking by removing your BAEC number and re-entering it, either by calling up or using the Finnair website. Otherwise, as mentioned in the main thread, just check this every few hours and something better may come up (assuming you're not happy with your current seat, which I'm not sure about from the wording).

and add your BA number in your Expert Flyer profile. It does change the seat map although many seats remain 'blocked' the TS seats offered to you will be better (further forward, exit etc).

The BA MMB and check in seem to overrule the block for status pax.

So probably > 9 seats unsold in Y

Looks like a possible change to a 767.

Not sure what would make you say that, but it's certainly not the case, for many reasons.

I doubt it, any still with CW in service?

massi1234 Feb 24, 2017 8:37 am

767

Surely a 767 is not capable of a Lima sector?

Color my face red :o. I hadn't realized that the CW configured 767 fleet has all been retired.

It is, but likely would be payload limited. Max range of a 767-300ER is a bit over 11,000km. LIM is a bit over 10,000.

What makes you say that?

You're suggest that BA would fly either a short haul configured LHR based frame, or leased aircraft? Based on what information?
