I had a friend fly a week ago in WT+ from LHR to SJC. They were told that ALL food and drink would have to be picked up from the galley. Due to short staffing, there was NO delivery to any seats in WT+

He and his family were not impressed.

******

Okay, I have had a clarification from my friend. While breakfast was served at their seats, no drinks were served with the breakfast meal, so everyone in WT+ they had to go back to the galley for coffee & tea, etc. (due to staff shortages).

He also said that the rest of the drinks service during the flight in WT+ was very limited.

Sorry all for any confusion ....

39 tray runs - couldn't be achieved by one person ? Absolutely atrocious - surely this is exagerated.

Absolutely diabolical.

I do find this very difficult to believe, do they mean the main food service or the snacks and drinks thereafter?

If this is the main food service, I'd complain. This is unacceptable. No doubt the Daily Mail will pick this up from here and run the story.

I'm only going by what he told me, but he was pretty firm that they had to pick up all drinks and food from the galley, for the duration of the flight. He only recently switched from Virgin -- he might be going back.

Hi Tobias -- I'll ask for a quote from my friend and give you an update.

Not mis trusting you, and wouldn't be surprised by plenty of things following my flight last week, but logistically this would be a nightmare - queuing, bumping, spilling / dropping, middle people getting in / out. People seem to have dire balance in flight !

I don't blame him!

I am shocked at this, I know you are not one to complain unreasonably on here and that is why I do not doubt you for one second. If this includes the main meal service then it is unacceptable, I can understand (though not excuse) having to go to the galley for refills but not the main service.

I have asked him for a clarification and will get back to the thread as soon as he has responded.

The cabin crew were encouraging all WT+ passengers---forty people---to be upstanding, out of their seats, queuing for food?

That seems like a serious safety concern to me.

Have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Quite, this would be just wrong on so many levels.

Hi Tobia-UK

I have posted a clarification above. His flight still sounds pretty bleak though.

Sorry for any confusion!

Thanks for taking the time to get clarification @Wembleygal, still a very poor show from that crew. Your friend has every right to be displeased with the service received.
