GVA / LCY flights changed ?

I fly every Thu evening and Mon morning to/from GVA out of LCY

I have just had a bunch of flights "canceled + altered" to LHR for dates in July and August

I called the BA number suggested on the email to check what the scheduling changes are and all I got was "it's for operational reasons"...no changes to schedule

Anyone know about this schedule change and what my rights are? Help would be much appreciated as my personal life / work life balance depends very heavily on these flights!

I understand from C-W-S on another thread that you can use EC261 (I think it was art 8 from emory) to claim travel from LHR to LCY in such circumstances, providing your flights had been ticketed. Alternatively you can cancel and rebook with Swiss.

In addition to navylad's comments, I suspect - this being July and August - that they are taking advantage of the greatly reduced level of business traffic at that time of year to send the Embraers to more lucrative locations off the Aegean. Given the amount of notice provided, I doubt you'll be able to do anything else, other than to cancel the flights altogether and rebook on to an alternative airline.

They are also making changes to LCY flights to get aircraft to STN and MAN for weekend summer flights, hence some LCY-GVA-STN-GVA-LCY flight patterns.

Article 8 of EU reg EC261 2004 gives you absolute rights to re-routing, so ask for the re-routing that suits you, you are only likely to get re-routing on BA, but Article 8 doesn't say 're-routing by booked operating air carrier and their partners only'.

If Swiss flights are about the same £, it may be easier to get a refund and re-book on Swiss, decide quickly though before any cheaper fares sell out.

Here's me spending thousands on flights and trying to steer everything to BA given their timetables suit me very well, and they go and balls it all up...

What about getting refunds for your bookings, then booking onto LX? Very similar (almost identical!) timetable for LCY-GVA-LCY.

And from the summer, it will be BoB on BA, and free drinks and a snack/sandwich on LX.

After 30 sectors on LX you can get FTL in M&M which gives you lounge access at GVA.

BA Cityflyer has more E Jet aircraft than last year and it appears that they need to get good utilisation out of them this summer during the business travel lower demand and the sat-sun LCY closure, I also suspect they are planning for the opening of Cross rail from Canary Wharf and anticipating lower business demand when this happens.

Through trains from Canary Wharf to T4 (reminder - they won't serve T5) are still two years away. Can't see Crossrail being a relevant factor at this stage.

I don't understand why 2284 stops at 01/06 when 2285 continues until 23/06...

From 2 June there is a new listing for BA2284 operating 5 days per week until 23 June:-

BA 2284 0 GVA 12:55 LCY 13:30 E70 1 hr 35 mins M,T,W,Th,F 02/06/17 23/06/17

It's traditionally a seasonal route, looks like it's going back to winter only.

For anyone interested, there is a LX discount code on LCY/LHR-GVA which will get you £25 off any booking over £95 - not bad!
