This thread is relates to the temporary lounge facilities for LGW South. At the time of writing there are three lounges open, the two permanent lounges for First and Club, linked immediately below, and the temporary Speedbird lounge, which is handled in this thread. The Clubrooms facility referenced below has now ended.
Details on the new BA First Lounge can be found here:http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...-february.html

Is anyone in BA management awake? Why wasn't someone senior from BA standing over the Sparkies for the past month to ensure this was signed off well ahead of time?
Given the whole year lead time, this is jaw dropping poor project management.

No, just walk to the relevant lounges. The Speedbird lounge is fully BA anyway, and No. 1 has BA staff there too. In fact the whole place is crawling with BA staff, management, Marco, and GAL representatives!

Does either lounge have free champagne?

At least we held out to post 20 before the C word was used!
Champagne for Golds and First travellers (etc) in the No. 1 Clubrooms.
Prosecco in the BA Speedbird lounge, and no, I don't know if that's permanent, but I suspect not. Photos of the wine are going up shortly in the post above.

Speedbird Lounge
Have they given any clues as to when the new lounge may open?
At least there is some facility provided in the interim, wondering what they will do with the 'speedbird lounge' once the main proper BA Lounges open?

Can we try and be a bit more positive, please? To me the terminal move is quite a large undertaking and given the lack of reports to the contrary, at the moment, it would seem that everything is looking ok. For the majority of passengers check-in and bag drop and getting away in time are what is important. They won't care about lounges. Given that BA have arranged alternatives then this at least goes some way to alleviating the issues whilst they work on getting the new lounge sorted. Or would some of you prefer that the lounge was sorted but everything else didn't work?*
*not withstanding that you would prefer everything to be ready on time.

Oh that's a shame. Was looking forward to seeing the lounge on opening day. Still, provides the (marginally exciting) prospect of seeing the South Club Rooms in all their glory.
Hopefully things will be up to speed by the time I fly in March, and BA don't "pull a Brandenburg".

Indeed, BA seem to have done a decent job of providing an alternate facility, with a decent amount of branding (am looking at CWS photos), and given options for customers. You seem to be in no worse position than yesterday ...
