I recently travelled in 11K on a 3-class 777 and experienced terrible seat vibration (from the engine?) on both the outward and return sectors. It was ok when I was sitting up, but lying flat, it really disturbed my rest.

I'm surprised that (it seems that) this phenomenon gas never been mentioned in this forum.

Is it just me?

WT best seats

I have been up and down this thread, but can find very few recommendations for seating in World Traveller.

Where would be the best two seats for a couple leaving LGW to JFK?
Extra leg room? Aisle seat?

BA2273 . 11/05/2019 16:55

anyone?

Row 1 A/B or J/K

HI
We have our first 777 flight out of LGW. Have option of 1A/B or 1J/K in CW to ANU.
Am I right to think that there is a toilet in front of 1J/K and so 1A/B is preferred?
I prefer window and wife prefers no one to climb over so row 1 is perfect for us.
Would be grateful for any advice.

Friends on 777 just upgraded and looking to get a sensible pair... They're in 10EF at the mo. I suggested 14EF might make more sense for aisle access - but not sure if 14E will be reserved for bassinet and pose any risk of moving?

For both types of LGW 777, the toilet is ahead of the F and G seats, access is from the galley area and the curtain is pulled across during the flight, so the J seat won't be much aware of it, and the K seat not at all. If it is one of the older 777s with CW going to row 11 then you would also have row 10A+B to consider.

If it is open to selection then it's not officially a bassinet. The other factor is that if CW isn't full, given the upgrade, is whether at least one of the aisle seats remains untaken, since that will give a pathway out. It's difficult to give more specific advice since there are 7 types of 777s in the fleet at the moment.

I'm actually wrong... apparently it's an A380! D'oh.

That flight at the moment is a refurbished 3 class 777 so it will have newer seats and upgraded IFE.

A look on ExpertFlyer shows row 42, 43 and 44 JK free so personally I'd choose 43. They're pairs so no one next to you but you'll be last off the plane. However if your quick once off and walk briskly it's sometimes amazing how many other people you can waltz by. IIRC exit seats (row 32) open from 14 days out for payment but I'm not 100% sure on that to be honest.

Row 29 seems to be a standard seat but on the old mid J 747s 29A and K have extra room so maybe that's what your thinking of perhaps? If so that's not applicable as no BA 747s fly from Gatwick.

For info here are the details from EF at the moment.

Thank you C-W-S. The seat maps are slightly confusing. Got 1 J/K on the way out and 10A/B on the way due to old 777 configuration. Assuming from your reply, J seats should be ok hopefully with not much disturbance noise or smell wise!!! Wife will be seated there, so I need to better make the correct choice or I will be in trouble.

You should be OK here, but why were you trying to avoid 1A/B then?

HI, We have option of 1A/B and 1J/K outbound. BA automatically put us into 1J/K. That was the reason I was asking whether it is worthwhile moving since 1A/B is still available.
Hope that makes sense.

Hi there

Hoping that someone could help shed some knowledge on this question for me please, will be taking the family to Orlando in July this year and booked in WTP and totally confused by the seatmap especially on the return leg !!

Below is the seatmap below for the outbound leg, showing 52 seats in total which I take it will be on one of the densified 777’s ?.

Below is the return leg seatmap, showing in total 40 seats, this would indicate it would be one of the four class 777’s from Gatwick (14F/48J/40W/124Y) however the seat row numbers don’t match. Also, not seen BA put the four class 777’s on the Orlando route.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers
