Hi. On a 77H is there any preference between row 1 or 2 window seats? Only thing I can think of is the slight curvature of the start of the fuselage and whether that enables a slight forward view, although I'm guessing nowhere near as much as was on 747? Any other reasons to choose one over the other. apart from that I know there's a basinett position in row 2.

Makes no difference really.
Definitely no forward view like row 1 on the now retired Queen - The 747.

Looking at Seat Guru today for a BA175 next month I see a config that has the familiar herringbone config which makes sense. However I am a newbie on BA and the seat selector has this: What madness is this???

Assuming that that is a 777, there's lots of very recent discussion at:And the usual advice in relation to BA: ignore SeatGuru.

It is often recommended on FT to use rj.com to check seatmaps because the ones on BA.com can be unreliable e.g. don't show rows 1 - 4 of CS. Has anyone seen this error before of rj.com? I can't see my seatmap on there

Whats the flight number and date? Can have a look on Expertflyer then to see if there is a seat map at the moment or whether this is a rj.com error

Looks like Club Suites to Cape Town, but old CW back from Mauritius. Not sure what is up with RJ.com...

Not sure if this query belongs here or on the Club Suite thread, but here goes...

Possibility I may be flying on a 77L shortly... is there a better CS than others? Are they all exactly the same or do some have something extra/less?

(I have searched, but failed to find the "best seat" guide as there are for some other aircraft.)

Personally I don't think so. There are various thoughts out there about those configurations with a mini cabin as to whether they get better service - they don't - and things like closeness or otherwise to galleys and WC, more for the quieter aircraft such as the 350 and 787-10. I think there can be a bit more vibration on those units attached to the bulkheads but on a 777 there's plenty of vibration anyway. But the seats are identically made and a lot of the debates we can legitimately have on legacy CW seating - in my opinion - now falls away. It's essentially down to what to do for couples and families, but the seat itself doesn't vary.

Thanks, c-w-s! Does service start from the front, so that being in row 1 or 2 would get food earlier etc?

Generally yes, but if the second cabin is reasonably loaded and BA have a full crew - rather a big if, then row 10 and beyond will have another staff member and therefore get their food at similar times to row 1.

Not sure which flavor 777

I'm currently booked on a BA flight LAX-LHR in December. Hopefully, it'll be new Club Suites, but for now it's showing as a 777 with old Club World. EF shows it to be a 777-200 with four rows of first but no 3EF (for the newspaper/magazine/drink caddy thing I guess), CW from rows 10-16, PE in rows 21-26, and Y from row 28. None of the seat maps in the Wiki post of this thread seem to match this layout. There are two of us. Should I pick 16AB or 16JK so the window seat person has aisle access?
