Hi all, wife is on BA32 tonight from HKG - LHR in WTP, I had incorrectly assumed it was a 77W, but it is actually G-YMMJ.

Am I correct in assuming this is the dreaded old style WTP and the awful IFE?

I was on YMMI the other day. I believe J is the same. So yes awful IFE by RC I am just surprised that this is being used ex HKG. My flight was ex DEL. The IFE is antiquated. Seats and service was ok although I was in business. The WTP cabin looked small.

I am equally surprised to see this plane ex-HKG. Considering the A380 departs 15 minutes later, that is a very big difference in product quality between the two flights.

Oh well, could be worse, she could be in WT!

On BA source it states seats 4A 4K has a missing/ misaligned window does this mean there is no view out from this seat?

Has anyone got any further advice on WTP on the refurbished aircraft? Wondering whether to jump for one of the bulkhead pairs or stick with row 11?

Hi, I am traveling with my wife and two kids in World Traveller on BA273 in April for a holiday in California. It's a roughly 11 hours flight from London to San Diego. We haven't travelled long-haul in WT for a while now but decided to go for it this time for budget reasons.

I'm now considering my seating strategy. I'm BAEC Gold and one of my daughters has actually managed to rack up silver. My wife and youngest daughter are both Bronze. I was thinking that maybe it makes sense for us to, instead of going for an extra legroom seat like 29H, go for seats further back and hope for seat block. I have now put us on 45 and 46 H and K, leaving an empty middle seat between us. Worst case I guess we could ask whoever gets that middle seat to swap. What are your thoughts on this strat?

There are two windows. One is forward of your seat. The other is right by your head and half obscured. You have to twist your head to see out, but it can be done!

I am travelling back from PHL in July in First. Originally it was on a B747, but it has changed to a B777-200 with 17 First class seats. I believe these are the ZZZ* registered aircraft?

I notice in a linked thread on page 1 of this thread, these aircraft are described as ‘the dogs of the fleet’ and ‘have a poor reputation’ (albeit it is dated 2011).

DRAFT - A Guide to BA's 777 fleet

Are these aircraft really bad? Has the ife been updated?

I have booked seat 2K – is that decent? Apart from all Row 1 and the middle seats on Row 2 the rest of the cabin is available.

Many thanks

BM

Yes they are all updated and 2K is a good seat and would be choice of all seats in the cabin.

Trying my best to figure out a seat for this Saturday's JFK-LGW flight in Club World on a 32J refurbished 777.
Here's what's available for windows, which I prefer:
4A
1K
Usually I take a bulkhead like 1K but I am understanding that I'd have to climb over 1J to get aisle access? Or not? I read that 1J "doesn't have a passenger climbing over the footstool" but I also read that 4A and 4K are the only window seats with direct aisle access.
Can anyone clarify?
Thanks!

1K has to climb over 2Js foot stool. Which doesn't bother me personally. Yes, no one climbs over 1J but it is obviously more exposed being an aisle seat and right next to the forward galley. 4A/K do have direct aisles access but also have a missing window, so depends how much that bothers you. The below pic is looking from 1K to 4A, to give you an idea of the missing window. I found 1K to be a good seat and don't mind the step over - good for stretching 😄

Thanks for that reply! it's a late night flight from JFK so missing windows isn't a big deal-- nothing to see except maybe on landing, maybe the Croydon skyline
So, window is less important to me than peace and quiet..... of course 1K is close to a galley and so is 4A right? Any preference between those two in terms of noise? otherwise it's all seats in the middle section available.
Thanks again!

I couldn't comment on the galley noise from 4A/K but it was fine for me at the front in row 1 and that was a day flight in which I slept. I'm also a very light sleeper if that helps. I imagine row 4 will probably be ok also and the added benefit of direct aisle access would probably make these the most popular seats. Not sure whether you are planning on eating on board, depending on how late it is, but consider you may be served slightly later than row 1, potentially reducing sleep time on an already short flight. I can't really add much more than that!
