Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...
For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times
Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.
If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.
Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here
Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.
Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)
Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

If you don’t want to credit your flights to AA I would very strongly recommend you do not log in on aa.com and instead book as a guest. If booking when logged in your aa number has a tendency to stick in the booking even if you try and change it later. If you book as a guest you can add whatever FFP you wish to credit to in MMB.

Has anyone stumbled across any runs which maximise flights on QF? The best I can do is BA OSL - LHR - HKG and then QF HKG - BNE - PER for around £2600 return.

I found a decent TP run ex SIN on MH to ICN.
SGD 1368 (GBP 765)
360TP
There are MH metal flights but there is also a KE 747-8i codeshare for the same price on the KUL-ICN sector (not on the way back). Am I right to understand that even this is booked on the MH website with an MH flight number I would not get tier points for that sector?
It would be great to experience the 747-8

Ive just done this. Unfortunately the advice above is correct the Korean operated 747-8 doesn't earn. Pretty decent flights on the KUL-ICN route on the MH A330 however the 737s were, well a little old. Decent crews on all sectors though and the MH satay is something else! Oh and the TPs posted 2 days after each trip. Definitely recommend.

GUF2 ideas
I've got a GUF2 that runs out in a week (already been extended). I'm struggling to find a decent route - best I can come up with is BRU-SHA. If anyone can find anything better, the other half is available..

The WT+ fares ex-Switzerland are usually very competitive to the East Coast, which can be used to GUF into CW (and CE for the short sectors, should you wish).

The answer is no. No TP or Avios will be credited on any flight not operated by a Oneworld carrier or BA partner airline. The only exception to this is QF coded flights.
But yes, the MH sale seem to be back. Ex BKK there's at least BKK-TPE for 475€/420GBP and BKK-PVG for slightly less, both earning 360TP.

As expected, too bad but as I need the TP I will avoid the codeshare.
Still on the fence about TPE on the 737 or ICN on the 330. I have done both, like the 330 but also like the lower cost of the 737 flights The ex BKK fares are nice but need to be booked 2 weeks in advance.

That's what I was afraid of. Now I have to memorize my PreCheck KTN and find a place to put all my confirmation numbers. Actually, I'm more worried that AA will match based on the KTN and still shove my AA number in there somehow.
But a small price to pay to save on lounge access and MCE fees.

The best routes are not presently bookable due to a recent lack of last-mile interline carriers ... just waiting for certain operators to return and wake these fares from their dormancy.
But in general QF is expensive, especially domestically.
JL sometimes has some good deals on TYO-SYD which often include free domestic transfers to nearby cities like BNE via nearby points like PER or BME.

In my experience that doesn't happen. I have received pre-flight emails that included my AAdvantage number, which worried me at first, but that appears to have been based on my email address. My BAEC number had not been replaced. I now use a different email address for AA, but I probably don't need to.

There are some nice QF fares filed out of North Africa

I can find only 3 faults with this fare:
- It's 20 grand
- You have to start from Marrakech
- You have to go to Brisbane

It NEVER gets matched to my non-active AA account, unless I call them up about changing the reservation, then you have to be careful. They changed the FF number without even telling me and when it didn't credit to BA, I had to jump through hoops with AA and BA to get the credit transferred.

I have taken things one step further by not even having an AAdvantage account
