** AA Domestic First on two cabin will earn business TPs and avios for departures on or after 11 January 2017 - see reference posts for more details **

** Note that the practice of AA Domestic 3-class service flights booking into A for 210 TPs when I was no longer available ceased in September 2017. Discussion here. **

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

How many TPs are you currently on, when do you need to get the TPs by, and how much are you willing to spend?

Thanks KARFA, trying to decide whether to use an upgrade voucher on a BA booking wiht military discount PRG-LHR-IAD for £930.40 or use a TA booking for the £1030 in the hope of getting additional F TPs. IF people recommend the later, any recommendations on a TA that could do this today?

I've had a couple of excellent experiences with Propeller, but also a couple which were infuriating. Fingers crossed you get Daniel or someone equally as efficient

Thanks @teledude, I'd never bank on them, just see them as an added bonus.

I did think about doing the PRG-HEL-LHR-IAD, but if my understanding is correct, this would prohibit the use of the voucher due to the prescence of at least one AY flight?

You'll of course need to complete the itinerary to PRG if using Propeller - not that you wouldn't anyway

Welcome to FT, I'm fairly new myself. As already stated you need to provide more info for the real experts to kick in on this. But as the last page or two of this thread shows there is currently a very good fare to Washington DC (few other destination for a bit more £) from Prague. Routing through Helsinki, London and another US gateway onto say DCA could net 600TPs for a return at £1030, which is decent value per TP. This must be be booked by today I believe. So prompt action if you fancy this one.

Edit: Apologies for welcome remark, your post count made me assume you were new, date says otherwise

Just booked a semi-TP run PRG-LHR-IAD-LHR-ARN. Not too crazy a routing, get to have a few short city breaks, and hopefully will make gold. Massive thanks to everyone here!

Is there a tried and tested 800-1000TP run going east? I'm based SE UK but can position. Not needed until July 2018 for new TP year but was looking to set up some price alerts once I had an idea of a route. Not interested in an A/NZ leg. Thanks.

Enjoy. I was very tempted too, especially by flying via HEL - but that option always required overnights at either PRG or HEL, so its not as great as it looks; more a Premium Cabin Deal than a milage run.

Nothing exceptional normally, Asia isn't a particular TP hot spot and your best bet is heading to the US if you're just looking to maximise TPs.

Best Asia option is often QR J from wherever in Europe to wherever in Asia is on sale, which nets you 560 TPs for around / a little under 2p per point if you're flexible (this used to be much better, but since Brexit you'll struggle to get near the 1.5p per TP or less prices that used to be be achievable). If you manage to book a QR flash sale fare (difficult to predict where from and to ahead of time!) you can get better than this.

Alternative sweet spots in J are:

- CX from Europe to CGK via HKG, which will get you 560 TPs (plus possibly another 80 from BA connections, depending on start point) - this is not that cheap per TP but comfortable
- QR/UL combo from Europe to DOH to CMB to somewhere in SE Asia, which can get you 840 TPs at reasonable cost

The problems you have are Asian premium fares are often some of the highest for the distance in the world and there's also no pretend F on Asian oneworld airlines like in the US, so you're almost always going to be better collecting your TPs from elsewhere if that's your main objective.

I'm sure others have optimised this but thought I'd share. Seems a reasonable run in First at 900k TP for 2k GBP and can be done with just one day off (or half a day if you push it!). Prices up fine using power tools
