Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

Darn, OK.

Tempted to book this. I was mainly after the lay flat bed because it was an overnight, although if a daytime flight less important - but I guess the seat is still far superior. Ponder, ponder. This would give 8 hours in MIA which I'm thinking might be enough to pop into town/beach for the day? I'm sure I'll have something booked tonight ^

You will need a night stop in LAX on the out- and inbound to get the 777.... Can't find another way to avoid the A321 recliners. Of course both are now day flights as well.

Have no issue with that - have only briefly stopped in LAX before so happy doing a day touring there. Have updated my post also, if 8 hours in MIA is enough to pop out for a quick visit then I think I've found my itinerary ^^

You can avoid the second night stop in LAX and still have time for a nice lunch in MIA if you are willing to do the A321 on the way back. Example.

Another example with 2 days in NAS.

Yep - that matches what I found (except I put in coming back on Friday). Very well done!

You're welcome and have a nice trip. NAS is not a bad place to relax a few days.

There used to be 2xdaily 777 and daily 1/2 767 on LAX-MIA route, alas that is now history, only 9am LAX-MIA departure remains on the B77W.

Having issues booking - looks like I might need to call. Doing via Canada site doesn't work (as tells me to change country site when I go to enter a UK credit card); but on the AA UK site the flights I've plugged in come up £300 more.

Yes, that has been discussed... There are two options. Reserve the booking and call AA in the morning or use a fake Canadian address, which seems to work for AMEX as they don't check the address. I am not an expert though. You can have a look through the premium fares or the TP 2016 thread to find the workaround.

PayPal seems to work with a UK address. Haven't tried the entire process though.

Yep - only issue is it's locked the booking I had and not releasing it, so now the fare is £300 higher! Will give it a few hours and try again

Need 10 TPs!

I need to achieve 10TPs before March to obtain the Gold Upgrade for two upon reaching 2,500 TPs. Can anyone suggest the easiest options?
A day trip to Amsterdam from LGW seems reasonable and qualifies for 5TPs each way.
Does anyone know if there is a difference in TPs awarded if I book economy basic or economy plus?

Ended up coming back about 15 minutes later and it was available again. Paid using PayPal and it said would take 3 hours or so to ticket. Left overnight, still not done so rang the UK this morning. They tried to process again but no joy (I'm thinking it's more an issue with Supercard that was backed off to it).

Reissued in GBP (saving myself £5/pax in the process ), and after 4 attempts at payment it finally went through on my UK AA AMEX and all sorted ^

Any return trip to anywhere will do! Depends where you're based or want to go for the "easiest" though.

There's no difference between basic and plus for TPs - 5TP is the minimum.

I am short of 380TPs and 6 qualifying BA flights/associated codeshares of hitting Gold. I was wondering if there are any affordable runs to hit these targets in one, or in split TP runs around middle of February through March?

I thought I might as well take advantage of the triple Avios period.
