Popped into the JFK CCR yesterday and whilst fairly busy around 6pm (emptied out a little later for BA2 etc.?), I found it a far better place to be than the LHR one.
Staff were more attentive and made you feel welcome. Also an interesting menu from which I had some octopus for the first time (prefer the Qantas salt & pepper squid to be honest).

Burger was rather nice just now. Let down by the ok chips. Think it's the bun that gives it that little bit extra taste.
Cheesecake rather non-descript and service not a patch on the JFK CCR once again.

They tried to get me to have some at 10:30 am, but that was a bit early for me (and I heard cumin rather than tumeric, which is a member of the ginger family anyway). Unusual that they seem to be pushing this for some reason?

I had it, along with the smoked mozzarella starter and then the artichoke gnocchi main. I wouldn't get the soup again. The star was the Spanish Red (Geol 2014?)

I rather like the chicken. Tried some in GF as well as that was good too - must have got a job lot it and the soup as it was initially offered to me as well. Have had parsnip soup before and wasn't keen so don't really want to try it and waste it if it doesn't agree with my tastes.
Not the most exciting menu this month. Dessert wise, GF with its scones and cakes seem better than both the cheesecake and bread & butter pudding.
Is the fish with noodles and miso soup hot?

The bread and butter pudding is, in fairness, rather delicious! In fact, I think I'll order one right now

Maybe better if you order say 4 portions to make it a bit more substantial

I had the oddly put together soup today as well, and thought it was ruddy lovely. Cumin for sure, I would say. The scallops dish goes from strength to strength. I'd now go so far as to say that this is the best dish I've been served in the LHR CCR (bearing in mind that I've only had the pleasure of stepping foot in the CCR occasionally over the last 12-18 months).

Agreed! I'm two scallop dishes in already and toying with a third. I'm sure scallops are calorie free

Regarding the herb in the soup; I was told turmeric initially, then I was told it was only parsnip and ginger. When I asked what had happened to the turmeric they said they had forgotten about it.
I think we should call it parsnip and ginger plus whatever you like as the herb. Personally, I found it flat in taste although the rest of my meal was fine and, as previously mentioned, the Spanish Red is "Champion", as they would say in Viz.....
