yes the SCL was a shocker, they said it’s a brand new route hence the price, when I said a similar length LHR - EZE was only £149 they said they don’t dictate the price. The only reason I did it was because my partner got upgraded by mistake for free and we shared the costs of my upgrade, otherwise the price is outrageous!

LHR-ORD

Ask for an AUP WTP to CW in the BA Lounge at LHR. Travelling LHR-ORD. Quoted £419 which i took. According to EF, at least 9+ seats were still available.

LHR - FRA BA916.

£45 for ET to CE. More or less a no brainer as original ET in K class only yielded 10 TPs. extra 30 TPS at £1.50 seemed pretty reasonable

LGW - NAP (ET to CE) £125 on the 8th December. The agent mentioned it's normally cheaper than that. 1 seat in CE available according to expertflyer. I declined but got an op-up to that exact same seat whilst in the lounge!

Waiting in the queue at GC South at the customer services desk and a guy was asking for a W to J upgrade if available. He was quoted £293 (bargain!!) and he had his card swiped etc.

After a few minutes I could see the agents face drop as there seemed to be an actual glitch and it actually wasn't available when he called through. Needless to say the guy wasn't happy but he took it on the chin and walked off rather fast. One minute up there and the next minute flat as a pancake.

Ouch! Win some, lose some I guess. I feared something similar had happened when I got a £314 W->J upgrade last month, I got my new BP, but 5 minutes later got paged back to Guest Services. I was fully expecting to be told of some mistake, but in fact was just they'd held onto my original BP, and it still had my luggage tag on it...phew!

Actually, could one of our resident experts explain who they phone and/or what they are checking? In both AUPs I've done at T5, the (very helpful) agent could give me a price upfront, but didn't process it or swipe my card until she'd called someone and confirmed it could be sold.

I bet your heart skipped a little beat there Bertie! I couldn't see 100% everything that was going on but I heard most of it. He was reassured although his card was swiped nothing was actually taken and he didn't sign for it although there was a black pad with a screen on it like when accepting a parcel. I'm not sure who they phone exactly, sales or revenue management/airport team? I really don't know but I am sure someone in the know will be along to tell us/everyone.

The guys flight was on the BA205 to Miami. Interestingly the guy on the left was doing today's flights/AUP's and the other agent was sorting out tomorrow's stuff/rebookings. Although I don't fly long haul until tomorrow as it was within check in time he could assist me and he certainly did. ^ A bit of tapping away and 2 short calls and it was done.

It certainly did. I usually use the app, but I've noticed that even when I have my BP on the app that EDI have a tendency just to give you paper ones as well, so my tag was on that.

Staying on the subject of AUP, I had asked at EDI about upgrading the leg to LHR (travelling in W, the domestic leg books into Y and I don't know of any way to get around that) and while they were able to quote me a price - the seemingly standard £69 - they said they weren't able to sell me it as they didn't have enough crew working the CE cabin for increased numbers. Fair enough. I suppose they have to check things like that, catering loads (particularly at outstations) and so on. As you say, no doubt an expert will be along soon

Quick question, may be a stupid one....
Only valid on day of travel, is this midnight-midnight on the day or within 24 hours of travel time?
