2017 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2017 or earlier if you have a 2018 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #418

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

Done.

Looks like quite an increase from c£439 from the early part of this year but perhaps your WRP ticket was particularly good value.

Certainly a long flight and the bed will be very welcome during and post your flight.

Since the introduction of Fly, is it still the case that on an itinerary such as GLA-LGW-VRN booked as one ticket, the system will not offer a POUG on either leg?

You are very unlikely to be offered a POUG on such a itinerary. I don't think this restriction has got much to do with FLY. I had many similar bookings with connections before and since FLY has come in and have never been offered a POUG.

It is so unfair that a domestic leg knocks you out of POUG. I read upgrade prices I'd happily pay them but have been told at EDI leg 2 can't be processed until LHR and once there been told can't do anything as the first leg of the journey has been flown.
If I want a POUG and I've got a domestic leg how do I go about getting it?

I have occasionally booked the domestic sectors separately to ensure a POUG offer on all legs, but clearly that is not a great idea if connection times are short as the connection will not be protected. The reason for my query was I recall someone on here mentioning BA's IT systems could not handle POUG offers on bookings with a domestic leg, hence I wondered whether FLY has changed this, but it seems not.

Thanks - too risky with the connection times on most of my trips. Oh well never mind just got to hope for a freebie one day (though never had one).

POUGs are offered through MMB only and before the trip begins. You won't get them by asking at the airport on the day.

You may be able to get an AUP (airport upgrade) price and you can ask about this at EDI or LHR.

Straight forward EDI-LHR-longhaul is still OK for POUG, provided it is booked via BA.com and is not manually changed. I don't understand the "first leg" comment, that's not how AUP works, it is only on a per leg basis. The exception would be if the fare was non public - a public fare is required for the necessary calculation of taxes and fees.

LHR-OTP £129 from HBO this Oct. Considering doing one way for the baggage allowance/TPs. Have updated wiki.

Well that's the exact words used at LHR. I was on an EDI-LHR-FCO flight. There was AUP available but was denied it. EDI always say they can't process any LHR leg upgrades. Just seems wrong but if that's how it is so be it.

On shorthaul you won't get POUGs in this set-up. But that should have been OK for AUP provided it was a public fare. It's possible you got an agent not familiar with AUP, or misunderstood the message from the Flight Management Unit.

I have a flight booked in October WTP (LHR-JFK-LHR (Saturday out and Wednesday back to London so it's kind of a cheap fare) on my corporate travel agent. (AMEX)
Currently I haven't offered any upgrade price.

I have two questions.

1. Should I wait for any upgrade offer. If so when (I know its not a guarantee) I should expect. Does this ticket fells into the category that I might get during OLCI.

2. I can upgrade my night flight (JFK-LHR) with miles. (24000) I wouldn't mind that and that is my main goal to have a bad on my way back. Not too bothered with the LHR-JFK leg. However, if I use the mile upgrade would my whole ticket would be not eligible to POUG? I mean the LHR-JFK leg. I would need some extra TP so if the price is ok I would do that upgrade as well.

Any experience on this?
