2017 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2017 or earlier if you have a 2018 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #418

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

LHR-LAX CW £739
LAX-LHR CW £693 both for travel February 2019.
Not taking as this is 100% leisure flight so cannot claim any tax relief as a business journey with HMRC.

Should I take the POUG to CW on the 747?

Offered POUGs for Feb 2019:
  • WTP to CW BOS-LHR $608
  • WTP to CW LHR--BOS $572
I'm tempted by the LHR--BOS as it's a 744. Would love to get upper deck, but I no longer have status so I assume I'd have to pay for assigned seating, and I wouldn't have access to the best of the upper deck?

Also, how bad is WTP on the 744? I'm in row 34.

Will be giving that one a miss.

I thought it's not possible to further POUG a POUG'ed ticket or get a double-class POUG?

Received a notification of a change to a WT trip to BOS in April next year. It appears a 787-8 has appeared in place of a 777-200ER on the return. Although I've been allocated a bulkhead seat, that means an (even narrower) seat, so I thought I'd look at POUG.

I happened to note the prices when I looked a week ago:
WT-WTP Outbound: £578 (£334 fare, £150 surcharges, £94 taxes)
WT-WPT Inbound: £484 (£334 fare, £150 surcharges)
Both ways: £728.00 (£484 fare, £150 surcharge, £94 taxes) - this compared to £1837 (£1440 fare, £150 surcharge, £247 taxes) for all four legs including the domestic (!!!!)

Today, upgrading both ways:
Fare £ 572.00 surcharge £ 150.00 £ 94.00 TFC, total = £ 816.00

Annoying…

I clicked through to the payment page in case it was a mistake but seems OK. Can't justify the extra though.

That's not a POUG, though, just a fare rules upgrade - and the price of these is apt to change in line with changes in fares, in the same way as the price for making a new booking.

Just been a victim of curtain roulette and moved from row 10 to row 23 on the A321 but bizzarely got offered a POUG on a corporate TA booking which never seems to happen.

£139 LHR-WAW for the record.

Doh. Of course, you’re right @Globaliser. My apologies - brain not engaged today.

Just a quick update on this. It looks like it was a mistake. Not the ability to get a POUG on an already POUG'd sector but the price quoted.

As I said after I had upgraded I got the offer to further upgrade for another £161. I clicked through and didn't take it. That was available on both the mobile app and desktop site.

This morning the POUG is still there but the price has jumped to £391 from WTP and CW. Would it have worked if I had actually paid or would it have been rejected and an incorrect fare and cancelled? I'll never know.

I thought it was a strange coincidence that the price for WTP to CW was exactly the same as I had just paid for WT to WTP which is why I think it may be some sort of glitch rather than a price increase.

RUH - LHR for 19 December from WTP to CW pricing at 2,916 SAR. WTP was booked in the T bucket.

No avios availability.

WTP currently showing W bucket ex RUH and CW showing J ex RUH. I suspect WTP is overbooked and BA are trying to mitigate op-ups. (CW could be overbooked too).

LHR - AMS, ET-CE for £79
LHR - CPH, ET-CE for £129

Normal POUG prices on these routes, but just for reference.
